A diffrent type of large knife.

As for the recon scout, when are they coming out in AUS-8, or are they now?

I don't know if that made one in the past, but the current Recon Scouts are in SK5 and VG-1 San Mai III :

The Military Classic with a 7" blade in VG-1 is a little cheaper:

For a less expensive alternative there is the Buck General:

Yeah, thats what I thought about the Recon Scout, what about a recon tanto in aus-8?

I know their around, well the new ones are at least. I dont really know where else to go on this, When you only have so much money, you can only go so far you know.

My Recon Tantos are both in Carbon V. I've had other knives in AUS 8 and they worked well, so my guess is that the new Recon Tanto will be a good knife for the money. The Carbon V blade should hold an edge longer and be tougher, but other Cold Steel tantos in AUS8 are used to do all the wierd tests in the "proof" DVD like stabbing through cars so they should be tough enough for any reasonable work. My experience with AUS8 is mainly in folders, and it holds and edge reasonably well, resists rust well unless bead-blasted (my CRKT M-16 rusts,) and is easy to sharpen.
