A drive in Kings Canyon

My parents were here for the weekend, and they wanted to go somewhere nice, but did not want to do any walking. So I took them for a drive to Roads End in Kings Canyon.

Kings Canyon is the deepest canyon in North America (8000' deep just below the confluence of the middle and south forks). First, a couple views from an overlook:

As we got lower, we could see where the Middle Fork Kings river exited its side canyon:

The river is running really high with snowmelt:

We visited a couple waterfalls on side streams. The first was Grizzly Falls:

Then we saw Roaring River Falls. Roaring River is running strong right now:

Then we stopped below Grand Sentinel, and got a few pictures along the South Fork Kings:

I could only look longingly on the high country....soon I will be up there.
 
As always you got some great pics there John... I cant wait to get there my self next month... Cant figure out on what trail to take yet lol....

Wow - beautiful pictures!

I love to see waterfalls, probably because there aren't that many around me worth seeing.
 
Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing. They help make up for a weekend spent in the concrete jungle.

wow. beautiful place, great pics. I really enjoyed looking at those. I havent been in the Sierra's yet, got to get out there.

Some awesome scenery there buddy, I could almost hear the noise of the water as I looked at the pics.......great stuff !!!!!
