A drive in Kings Canyon

Most of the pictures I have posted on the forum were taken with an Olympus SP-350, which I have been using for several years. It started acting up on my Christmas trip to the Philippines, so I have just started using its replacement, a Kodak Z1285. I would love to get the picture quality that is possible with one of the big SLR digital cameras, but I have to limit my camera choice to compact models that are practical for backpacking. I used to take 35mm SLRs backpacking (including a very heavy Leicaflex) but the weight and bulk are too much. Of course, that Leicaflex gave some great pictures.
