If you were to buy a new Porche or Mercedes or BMW, would you deliberately spend extensive time slamming the door OPEN? Would this be a valid test to show how strong the hinges are? Would you video this until the hinges failed and then publish the video on YouTube? And would you be surprised when you heard from the legal department of the manufacturer?

 I would be comfortable saying that said people are a bit loose in the head.

Not if I bought it, but if I was testing the car yes.

I don't think that this is in any way a valid test of a car. A better test might be to take it out for a drive, rather then play around with the door.

screw that. dont be stipid. buy a full size pick up truck. gmc. that way you have something to haul your wood around in and work out of, go 4 wheeling in,go camping in, a mans real play toy.

But then how can I make myself seem important and relevant?

It really seems these people are either searching for issues that don't exist or trying to create issues just for recognition.

I agree...When I see this kind of "stuff" I just chuckle and think to myself............man, get a life:rolleyes:

Chris D. :D

Is this a metaphor for flicking open? If so, I agree that ability to withstand being flicked open has no bearing on the real functionality of a knife, especially a sebenza. I've never understood the compulsion to try to flick open sebs. It's not as if it actually makes the knife open faster than a thumb sweep.

I think the people that do this have WAY too much time on their hands. They need to get a job and get a life and become a productive member of society. When I see posts such as this, I just shake my head. Sometimes I will leave a responce, other times I am like, Why Bother !!! Its just a bunch of nonsense........The recent surge of CRK fake's drives me up the wall as well...........I will say this: With the customer base you have already built by making the Finest Knives EVER Designed, The Finest Customer Service of ANY Company I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with, You WILL Be In Business A LONG TIME. Long Live Chris Reeve Knives :thumbup:

Ouch, there's some frustration oozing through those questions.
I understand that.

The majority of us like what CRK is doing and enjoy the products very much, like I do.

There are some questionable things done by people and those threads tend to get a lot of attention. I too did some brutal things to my umnumzaan. And yes, I posted about it, but never in a judgemental way. The people that do post in a judgemental way are a minority, just check out the threads here.

I get what you're shooting at, but please don't be distracted by a couple of bad things being said. Most of the times they are either wrong or there is a healthy discussion, they might be right too.

Sometimes we're just curious to see what happens when a car door is being slammed open over and over again. It's interesting and there's some fun in it too. If the door breaks, well, it's not my door :)

I guess most of us see the value or lack of it in those kind of tests.
I do.

keep it up chris  we love what you're bringing us.

I don't know whats wrong with people it's just a damn knife and a folder at that. use it to cut stuff and that's it. if you need something that will take extreme abuse carry a hatchet.

If people shell out the cash, they can do whatever the hell they want with their property.
If I had the money to buy a Ferrari and proceed to use it for a rifle target, that would be my perogative.

Slamming a door open!!! That is nuts! I would not own a 1972 Beetle still in working order if I had done that! I expect my Insingo to last just as long and all my knives, therefore I dont slam.

Would this be a valid test to show how strong the hinges are?

Short answer No. Hinges are made to open to a point and then close. Forcing beyond that point is torture.

Would you video this until the hinges failed and then publish the video on YouTube?

No, it would make one look stupid. Cant you open a door the right way?

And would you be surprised when you heard from the legal department of the manufacturer?

I remember reading Mercedes Benz took British Government to court for placing a C-class or something on a drunk driver or reckless driving ad. So if one were giving false information about a brand be it car or anything one should expect trouble.

o here is a picture of my beauty.

Chris, why don't you fight fire with fire. If you send me any folder of your choosing, (except a Mnandi as I already have one of these awesome knives):D, I promise to film and post a glowing, but fair review of that knife on the internet. I will also be glad to parody the negative review.:) If you do this with each one of us on this thread , the internet will be overwhelmed with positive reviews.:D Basically, after this if someone googles the word; "knife" "excellence" "great" "quality" or "stud" the name "Chris Reeve" will pop up. You will be the Chuck Norris of the knife world.

In all seriousness, your knives and reputation speak for themselves, and I don't believe that you will lose any customers due to some idiot intentionally abusing your knives and posting it on YouTube. We all sympathize with the fact that you have to deal with this, but I think that in a way, it indicates just how well known you and your knives are. Take care.

I expect the car company to slam the door a few thousand times during testing :-P

If I wanted to use a ferrari that I bought for target practice that's my right. Publishing it and implying that a ferrari is an inferior car because it doesn't tolerate rifle bullets is clearly crossing the line.

True.
But I have a hard time seeing why it matters what some retard posts on Youtube, the medium of advanced wisdom which brought us "sneezing Panda" and "Leave Brittany alone!"

Chris--- You are dealing with mass ignorance and insanity. :D
You are in a different league of mentality.
Hi Anne!

No not a valid test at all. Unfortunately it comes with being number one. I think most are smart enough to see through this silly testing people do.
