a few things that annoy me...

Objection noted Hugh. I don't see mutton wrong with sheep.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

Mark, nobody said combo edges are bad. I just got an Ascent 830 with a combo edge and I love it. The man's gripe was "knives that are only available in combo edge." He just wants to have a choice.

Gripes?
1. Friends who are not afraid of me (the 6'1" 285 monster in combat boots) but cringe when I'm holding a knife. If I wanted to hurt 'em, the knife wouldn't be necessary. Ya know why? Because they're afraid to arm themselves, so any moron could kick their asses.

2. Friends who mocked me for taking too long to get a piece of pizza 'cause I didn't want to alarm 'em with a knife, then made fun of me for using the knife to cut the next piece. Sheesh.

3. Television reporters. Annoying creatures.

4. Every time I tell my dad I want to be a schoolteacher, he says "An eeevil schoolteacher?"

Gwinnydapooh,

You're right, I understood that. Didn't say anyone said they were bad, just wondering what was wrong with them

That's what I meant also about knives being available {only with a plain or serrated edge, too. Plain edges are okay with me as well if they don't come with a combo edge. Make all choices available with all knives, then everyone is happy! Wouldn't that also mean more sales to the makers?

Mark

Sounds like a plan. You and I can start the company that introduces the concept to the market.

I can sorta make fixed blades, how are you at lock mechanisms?

tee hee.

Panophobia (or Pantophobia) - is the fear of everything.

As offensive to some as "sheeple" may be, it IS (sadly) applicable to the way the masses act. They ARE stupid. They enter the world entirely unequiped for survival and rely on others for protection. (And bleat and cry when they don't get it.) They are led in mass by other animals that aren't THAT much smarter, just noisier and more agressive.

Annoyances -

People who ask my opinion, and go against it. Then when things turn out wrong, they come back to me and whine about it.

I think you guys are missing the boat on "Sheeple". Plainly put, Sheeple are people that won't/can't think for themselves and require that someone or some organization/government take care of them. Refusing to own a weapon because the local P.D. or military is going to save them is merely a symptom of a larger problem. Obviously our Founding Fathers were not Sheeple.

On a lighter note, My pet peaves are:
1)Any blade not offered plain.
2)People that dis an econo blade, just because it didn't cost an arm & a leg (I love 1095).
3)"sterile blades" (yeh right).

Daryl

I really agree with some of you about being teased with advertised knives that are not available for months or longer. There's one that I have been waiting for advertised availability date was "Fall 98" , well I'm still waiting for it and of course the manufacturer told me last month "anyday now"!
I also can't stand BEAD Blasted blades!
Salespeople in retail knife stores who do not have a clue about what they are talking about really get to me!
And another thing, people who tell I spend too much money on knives just set me off!!
Well that's all I need to say for now I'll go overboard on things that p#$$ me off.

You guys don't know how easy you have it.

I live in the UK.

No Tactical Knives/Blade/Knives Illustrated (I got a copy in Hong Kong though)

No Butterfly knives

USPS mauls the cover of your magazine : Royal Mail charges me £5 for the privelige of being charged 30% (£30) of the value of my HSS AFCK and 15% of the cost of getting it from the US to UK.

I was fortunate enough to have ONE teacher in all of my education who taught me not to be afraid to question ANYTHING. ESPECIALLY established consensus. A lot of other people I know have had the advantage of this kind of education, and it shows. But when it comes to weapons they are sheeple. Some of the arguments are ridiculous but it seems that the greater number of peolpe in this country have been brainwashed. If either of our two countries should have more of a tradition of an armed public, I would have thought the gravity and proximity of WWII would have made it my one.

Sorry that all my posts seem to be quite wordy.

PS Years ago, when looking for the correct term, I asked a Greek friend what the word for _Weapon_ was He said 'oplo'

I always recieve my knife magazines in perfect condition

I must just be lucky

I hate people calling me a freak just for buying quality knives.
All knives should be available in a configurations.
I HATE nockoffs.
I live near a store that sells knives for WAY over MSRP, so I went in there the other day and looked at a ton of knives and told the owner who was standing there what I could get each of the knives for elsewhere
wink.gif
man, HE was boiling
smile.gif
(I only did this because I found another good store near me that sells for way BELOW retail
smile.gif

That's it because I'm gonna check out the other posts now
