The Spyderco Military is better in every way except for the lock mechanism. The liner lock in the Military is awesome as far as aliner locks go, however. All in all, I prefere the Military.
The 806D2 also has, arguably, better steel than the Military.
I love the Military and prefer its G-10 to the smoother G-10 of the 806D2, but between the better steel and the better lock, it isn't foolish to consider the 806D2 to be better than the Military.
The steel preference is very arguable. So much so that I wouldn't try to make a point of it, although I agree with you. I trust D2 more than S30V. The way the Military feels and cuts is way better to me though.
