A friend in need -- please read.

Put them up on the for sale forum and put a link here. I'd suggest doing them one at a time rather than all at once.

Go to a lawyer who specializes in disability and apply for your social security disability. He can get it for you but will take a healthy cut. Once that's done, take your social security determination to the VA and tell them you are 100% disabled. Apply for service connected disability based on ruined back due to carrier landings + apply for all other benefits you have coming because you are disabled, all at the same time.

Hang in -- the papermill redtape battle is ominous and wears you down (you are looking at a 1 to 2 year battle with social security and a 2 to 5 year battle with the VA) but it can be done. And when you finally get it you are paid from the day you file so you get some lump sum back pay.

I was thinking of auctioning off one of my Indian produced, ivory gripped, officer model kukris at $20 a throw. These are high quality pieces and are a bit on the rare side. If you guys think that is too mercenary of me please say so. I personally think it is, but only cash will keep me from a very unkown future.
As far as I'm concerned, there ain't nothin' mercenary about smacking the wolf in the nose. I'd be happy to take a couple of chances on a Powell Collection officer's model - the amount involved keeps me below the radar of SWMBO, and if I win, HOT DAMN!

I filed my own social security disability papers along with all the medical information from the doctors I had seen for my back injury, psycologist, work review and etc. and got approved in less than three weeks, three days less in fact.
It takes getting all of your ducks in a row. I have a 100% disability rating from one doc after having three back surgeries. The others were less generous.:grumpy:

John, give us first crack at those babies. You might find that some of us are willing to pay that price, just to take care of them for you for a while.

Send me a address to mail.I send what I can! I know the PAINS of the VA system!

I'm sure there's lots of people that would jump to get in on a raffle. I'm one of them. However, if auctioning it off on Ebay, or directly to a private collector would generate more cash, I would do that. I'd love having an ivory-handled khuk on my wall, but I'd much, MUCH rather have a khuk expert around.

Do what feels right and will best meet your needs.
