A.G.Russell traditional folders - how are they?

I believe these Catts were commissioned by AG Russell...

Eric, I had one of those Catt's a few years ago. I was always disappointed that I traded it away. I liked that blade shape a lot. So I changed up my blade on my 79 to replicate that Catt shape.

Bob, you're a blade shaping artist. Your work always looks "factory".

Bob the Mod, that's some fine work on that Spear, I'd fancy one!

The AGR Catts certainly look the part, I don't care where a knife's made as long as it's made decently and well finished. Japanese knives are some of the highest finish, quite a few Chinese none too far behind either.

Thanks, Will

I agree---beautiful blade work there, Bob.

Did you use a belt grinder?

Bob, a masterful job my friend. That looks really good. I'm not surprised though as I am a little familiar with your "tinkering" ;)

Getting back to the subject at hand, that AGR spec'd Catt was a very nice knife. Excellent fit and finish.

My only AG Russell branded knife is a recent purchase; 2-blade sowbelly trapper with cocobolo scales. It is a handsome knife. The fit and finish is excellent. My only concern is the pull is very light to me, and I prefer a half stop (safer) with a lighter spring. My take from reading here is that my knife is typical. Would I buy more? Probably.

That is true the medium barlow that I had you could one hand. You would also swear that there was a bushing in it from how smooth it opens.
