A.G. Russell's Regard (or Lack Thereof) For Cold Steel

I will say this much. I got no use for A.G. Russell if he has a problem selling Cold Steel knives. Yes I realize some do not like Lynn or their brand and some of his politics and views are controversial to some. But lets not act like no other knife suppliers and manufacturers are not without their skeletons in their closet. Amazon and Ebay work plenty well for me. I am thankful there are more options than A.G. Russell.

Since the thread was revived anyway, I went back and fixed the photos. It's hard to make sense of the theme without them, and there is some valuable and interesting Cold Steel history covered herein.

I like Cold Steel, and I like A.G. Russell. Whatever experiences they've had with one another or opinions they have (or had) about one another are between them. Heck, it's not uncommon in life to like or be friends with two people who don't like each other. You have a good relationship with each, you just don't hang out with both of them at the same time. :D
Of course.

Wow you are all about pulling up these ridiculously old threads!

No problem with old threads that are clearly labeled. I can see then whether I'm interested or not.
Big problem with ANY thread, new or old, that is vaguely titled so I have to look into it to find out whether or not it interests me.

I just discovered this video from A.G. Russell Knives showing "endurance testing" of the Sandbox Bowie.

Here's the significance and the reason I'm posting it in this thread: A.G. purchased the steel used for the Sandbox Bowie at the Camillus liquidation auction after the company had gone out of business. It was the last of Camillus' supply of raw Carbon V. He then asked Dan Maragni (who developed Carbon V for Cold Steel) to help him perfect the heat treatment for his newly acquired steel to make it a superior performance steel.

Now, in an effort to show how tough the steel in his bowie knife is, A.G. creates a video of a staff member chopping through a cement block using the knife's edge, an absurd abuse of a blade.

So it's OK for A.G. to use Cold Steel's steel and Cold Steel's heat-treatment expert to create a high-performance bowie that he tests by chopping through a cement block, something no one in his right mind would ever use a knife to do. But when Lynn promoted his own bowie in the 1980s by replicating the ABS Mastersmith tests to demonstrate the performance of his production knives, it was "hype and just plain Cattle-manure?"

A.G. Russell's hypocrisy apparently knows no bounds!

Agree 100%, all the time, in every known universe.
