I was poking around the net, looking at knives if you can believe it, and saw that A.G. now has single blade models using the sowbelly trapper frame. On the original two blade trapper I wasn't totally won over in terms of looks but I like both of these very much in this configuration. Not like I needed another single blade wharncliffe to want after, but that's life. :)

My wife allowed me to buy a knife. Got the smaller gunstock. So stoked.

Some time ago, AG had told me about these versions coming out...and they sure look good, especially in the wharncliffe version.
I just look forward to the smaller versions (the 3 5/8"gunstock is already there, and - from what I've been told - the smaller sowbelly should be out this year hopefully). Then, I guess I won't have any reason not to get one of these...

Their sowbelly design has been our for a while now, and I haven't read any feedback on the practicality and ergonomics of the knifes when using them for work. The look great, love the designs, but since I don't know anyone that has one of those jewels, I don't want to bit unless I can hold one.

Anyone use the single or double blade sowbelly?

Robert

Here is what I want to know about the A.G. knives. How is it that some of them have the choil and edge so much lower then the kick? Is there a 'stand' on the back spring to keep the blade up and off it?

Thanks for any info.

BTW, I don't think the edge would hit the backsrping, but I am curious how these knives are designed.

They put a pin on the inside of the handle that the kick hits. Somewhere around here Mr. Russell posted the CAD drawing showing it.

edit: FlymoN's last picture in this post shows the pin well: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...lly-Trapper-whoa-momma!?p=9300645#post9300645

Sending it back. Scales were uneven. Neat design, but I think I was expecting too much and we need to money more than I need a knife. I'd heard these knives compared to customs. Mine was about Case level. YMMV

Sorry...i just cant get past the made in China thing

PLEASE.... for the love of Mike don't start that same old xenophobic vomit. We have all been beat to death with it. That crap has been killed DEAD on many, many threads. There was no reason to post that, as it had nothing to do with the damn knife.

Stay on topic or ESAV will be forced to (and will) close down this thread just as he has had to do all the rest when the chest thumping starts. Then we won't know anything else about these knives.

Folks, let's keep the thread about the knives. If you need to read the "Guidelines For The "Traditional Folders & Fixed Blades" Sub-Forum" again, please do. You will find the following clearly posted:

Regardless of personal point of view, "China Bashing" is not welcome and will not be tolerated. Please discuss and critique the knives themselves...not the country of origin.
This applies to any "offshore" point of production.

Thanks

I think my post was clear, but if not, the country of origin had nothing to do with my disappointment in the knife. Just sloppy. And I'm being picky. It's a fine knife, I was just expecting perfection. Dumb me.

LK,

Please send me an email with your name and address so that I can trace the knife that disappointed you. Many thanks, A. G.
