A Gal's First Knife--- Completed!

That is truly a spectacular job on a first knife. You certainly didn't cut any corners. I'd like to see you make more.

Looks real good. You might keep it the way it is and design your next knife for a set of scales.

Looks good, are you thinking of epoxy coating it ?

I don't know much about epoxy, and how permanent it is. I like the ability to change the paracord, but I am certainly open to giving the epoxy a try.

Very nice, I really like how you used the pink lanyard in the wrap. Steel dust is addictive isn't it :p

It's so addictive, life was getting in the way! I found my eyes drifting out car windows (not while driving, thankfully :p) just day dreaming about getting into the garage to work on my knife...weird and dorky, I know...

Very nice. How long is the blade & handle?

The OAL is 6" and the blade is just over 2.5" (I have small hands...insert joke here...)

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I have already been using it and so far I'm pleased!

Yeah Stacy, it's sharp, thanks to the cliffnotes on how to put on an edge and sharpen!

We're all weird and dorky here.... :)

Seriously, a ridiculously good looking first knife. The most impressive part is how solid your overall process was and how willing you are to listening and learning.

I relate to being addicted. I daydream about knife designs.

That is the perfect size for versatility and portability, and it's pretty, too.

It turned out very nice! :)

Big kudos to Darrin for heat-treating it!

And kudos to you for sticking with a similar design while you work on improving your skills. That's a very smart move. :)

I read the post before I scrolled to look at the knife and said out loud "wow."
Really like the blade shape.

I would advise to turn back while you still can or this will turn into your brain being completly overloaded by thoughts of knifemaking. Many of us suffer from that ailment, some worst than others, like me. :o ;)

Kidding aside, great first knife. Refreshing to see someone put a lot of work into their first try. Lately we've seen a few first knives that looked like they fell in the sink's garbage disposal. :(

Nice, reminds me of some knives I own and some others I've designed. We're both in SLC so let me know if you want a show and tell.

What you need for that is a Bud Nealy MCSII system and you'll be all set.

I am past the point of no return! There's no turning back now! Thanks Patrice!

This Thanksgiving I'm additionally grateful for this forum and my new found blade making addiction! Happy Thanksgiving all!
