I guess I'm not up to date on our cacti down here. After literally walking hundreds of miles on National Forest trails here, I can honestly say that I don't recall ever seeing any cactus in the woods.
Is that a prickly pear growing out of a palm tree? That's wild!I never saw a cactus in IL outside of my mom's houseplants.

Regarding IL cacti, prickly pear is an endangered species throughout the state.

The DNR says it only grows in Jo Daviess County, but that's not true. I've seen prickly pear growing on IL Beach State Park.
