A game to play

I'm in Arizona, but it's 45 minutes drive to get to a cacti

I guess I'm not up to date on our cacti down here. After literally walking hundreds of miles on National Forest trails here, I can honestly say that I don't recall ever seeing any cactus in the woods.

I didn't know IL had cacti until I studied ecology back in college. We walked through a state park and the professor had to point out the cactus to us. We even have rattlesnakes up here, no lie!

Rattlesnakes are a dime a dozen down here. You really have to watch your step, especially in shady, rocky areas in certain areas. Tis the season for rattlesnakes as well!

Cacti can thrive here, but they are not native to this area.

Only 2 ways in and out of our neighborhood. These signs are on both entrances to our home. Have not seeing a rattler (here) yet but black bears are common up the road from us.

Wind sock is kinda limp, but the steam is blowing nicely :)

Knife and a water feature of some sort.

I'm jealous, we're expecting 12 to 20 inches of snow this weekend. Fml.

Everywhere else seems to be enjoying spring lol

I never saw a cactus in IL outside of my mom's houseplants.

Here's something you don't see every day...unless you drive a commonly used road a few blocks from me.

That's a wild picture!

Regarding IL cacti, prickly pear is an endangered species throughout the state.

The DNR says it only grows in Jo Daviess County, but that's not true. I've seen prickly pear growing on IL Beach State Park.
