I'm partial to spiders. Had a black widow I named "Sage" for nearly 5 years, named my AR after her. The chances of her biting you are really slim, and besides, Latrodectus (widow spider) venom isn't deadly in most cases.

I know what you mean, The Aflac Duck . I usually try to defend the spiders around my house from my wife and daughter. That one had her web very close to my driveway. My daughter found it and asked me to kill it last night. By coincidence, the post was up for the knife with a spider. If it was anywhere else outside, I wouldn’t have killed it. I only posted the second picture to show the hourglass.

I saw black widows in Colorado (northern front range), but never in Kansas. My mom's family is from Larned (some are still there), central KS.

I’m an hour from Larned, never been there though. I’ve only been in Kansas for a year.
