A game to play

Jesus that is huge, I had one of the 9040s have an electrical issue and they sent me the part free and fast, good customer service. These run about 1k a piece so not to crazy but they sound good. I have a pair of them, makes for excellent movies with the family or Bluetooth music to the stereo they are hooked up to.

My setup is just under 3k I can't blow 10k on speaker lol I have other toys I like to mod, not enough money 🤦‍♂️
I think he paid around $3k for the Mythos...they were normally $5k but were discontinued and he found the last pair in New England. And yeah, $10k for the Tektons🤯. And he only uses them for music...he's got a soundbar for his TV. I have a pretty basic 5.1 JBL system, but it will shake the house if i want it to...good enough for me.

That's how I feel, mine are good enough for me. Long gone are my days of shaking my car with jl audio w6's, I sold them when I had to put a stroller in the trunk lol

Ahhhh, car stereos… that’s one deep rabbit hole. I started with two Kicker 12s in a sealed box. Had everything from 8s to 18s in different setups.

My highest SPL setup was two dual voicecoil Orion 15s in bandpass enclosures with 5” X 16” ports. That was linked up to two Lanzar LZ250 subwave amps, bridged mono.

All that was in a Buick Regal with no back seat. Hit 161DB all day long. That sh!t would shake stuff off your walls with me in the driveway. Up all the way it would rattle your eyeballs around in your skull if you were in the car.

My dude! I used to set off car alarms coming home late to my apartment when I was stationed at ft.bliss in El paso lol the neighbors loved me 🤣

Nothing like a 20 year old being a prick LOL

What's next. I've never like subs in cars. My current car has the stock Infinity 10 speaker system. I've always been a quality over quantity guy. For home theater, I do like a sub though. My old setup, when I lived alone in apartments, is now either partially hooked up or boxed up.

I have a 12" Klipsch sub that would rattle the whole apartment building, downward firing. Now, I keep it turned down lower because I don't want to disturb my mother. My old cat (RIP) used to sit on the sub when ever I played a movie with lots of explosions or was blasting heavy metal.

When I was 22 I had to have a loud system (still no sub) in my 1992 Camaro V8 to hear anything over the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system, high flow cat, and headers.

At 43 I appreciate loud sounds less and less.

Oh not me, I’m more nodding my head like “rock on, dude. That sh!t bangin’!”

Now tejano blasting at 3am from the neighbors when my little girl is trying to sleep gets the fist in the air.
3am is what I'm talking about, that's when I'd come home 😅

I feel like young men get a grace period to act a fool to a certain degree. Lord knows I did. Crazy how we go through stages. I see my sons doing dumb crap and my wife looks at me and asks am I gonna say something and I'm like nope lol I know they gotta learn and do their thing

I did some crazy stuff as a youth, but also when my marriage started going south. There is an on ramp near my old place that is 1/4 mile+ nearly straight, I'd get my little hatchback going 100+mph into the merge point, took off ramps so fast trying to flip the car. So, its not just kids/young adults that are doing stupid stuff. Now? Well I hit 117mph in my SUV, so I guess I'm still doing stupid stuff, but for different reasons. Once again, its for the exhilaration, not because I want to die.

I get it, I ride a zx10r. Late night highway riding when it's empty it's not hard to hit 195. It would make sensible folks change their underwear.

Wow! Yeah count me in that underwear changing group. I'm not an old man driver.....I tend to always speed...slightly. But to appease my kids (and stress out my wife) I recently pedaled my wife's Chevy Cruz to 106 mph and even that was a little sketchy for me. I simply can't fathom almost 200 on a bike! You might not be totally sane. 😁😆

117 in a 7 passenger SUV is nothing to shake a stick at either. Feels way faster with that much wind resistance. My old Camaro w/ t-tops rattled like crazy at speed. I took it to 135 on I-24 in southern Illinois and I seriously was both exhilarated and terrified at the same time, I felt like it was gonna fall apart like the Dodge Polara in "Blues Brothers."

Knife and a sword letter opener.

Im a hypocrite, I wouldn't want my sons to do it. It's not for everyone. I also ride back country roads all over Kentucky, we have nice twisty roads through the mountains. I love it because at that speed nothing else is on my mind, literally focused on one thing, staying alive. It's amazing, but needs to be respected and only done when appropriate by a rider skilled enough to not die. And even then anything can happen. I might have a screw loose.
