A game to play

Good for you. I don't drink myself. I had a liver transplant 4 years ago (not from alcohol) but I'm not gonna risk it. Alcoholism is rampant in my family (Irish and Italian) I'm fortunate I don't get addicted easily.
Hope that your health stays in the up and up. That's some scary stuff...

Alcoholism wasn't my primary concern, it was my blood pressure and the fact that I was tipping the scales at almost 260 pounds. The easiest way to cut the calories was to not drink, so that's what I decided to try... Boredom being the biggest reason I'd take things to excess, so some new hobbies were in order.

Plus now I can spend beer money on knives.

I have lodged a formal complaint with the judges. This blatant discrimination against Canadians who in many cases, still have snow on the ground - will not go un-challenged. Callouts for dandelions, lawn stripes, budding shrubbery, etc. is a flagrant slap in our collective faces. 🇨🇦

:p
LOL

I genuinely laughed. Having lived in Northern Michigan (5 hours north of the Canada border) I totally get it.

Now that I'm in Kentucky I love life so much more, so many more sunny days and spring comes more than a month early, snow stripes count!

Hahaha. I am in Southern Ontario, but we are in the transition period right now......no snow on the ground, but still too early for the first grass cutting of the year.

P.S. - The judges told me to stop whining, eh.

No stripes here till hopefully next month, but I do see some buds on brush and the Maple trees starting to bud. Heck, the Junkos are still here.

I'm in northern lower Michigan. No snow. Today was almost 70 but pouring rain. Temps start sliding back towards 40 tonight with more rain and 40-50 mph wind the next 3 days. No buds, no grass, no dandelions.

Yep..........I didn't think it was possible but Michigan both sucks and blows.😆

Going forward I will be much more inclusive in my requests with any of my fellow brothers that may be North of my Latitude that involves outdoor flora or fauna, especially seasonal wise. Once mosquito season starts, your all fair game though 😃.

Once mosquitoe season starts... lol f mosquitoes, little blood thirsty mofos.

In northern Michigan/Canada ( 🤣) we have black flies... blood sucking little flies that make mosquitoes look like saints.

F that, they are a large contributing factor into my moving south. The northern parts above the 45th parallel get horse flies, deer flies, assassin flies, mosquitoes, black flies (the blood sucking variety), ground hornets and the rest of the stinging flying family lol

The short warm season invigorates them (mosquitoes and black flies) 🤣
They come out more voracious than any blood sucker in Florida (I'm born and raised there) and trust me, I grew up fishing the everglades... I know about mosquitoes lol

Those black flies are little bast******s, they even hug the bottom of the boat and go for the ride with you and once stop attack with a vengeance. At least misquotes you have a fair chance to swat em and hit em, black flies always seen to get their bites in and get away. Horse flies too, giant bast******s!!

Agreed! They love the corners of your eyes, and ankles! Little devils 🤣

Thera wee lil devils

I would disagree with the flies being worse then mosquitoes, here in central FL you go outside on a warm evening and you WILL be swarmed with hundreds of mosquitoes! and with that many you can forget trying to swat at them!
With flies on the other hand you can wait till they land on you and smack them, (or at least I can)
Also where I’m at in FL we get flies pretty bad, and around May we get those little yellow flies, those are the worst! and pretty painful, but still if your patient you can smack them as well (though usually there’s a lot more of the yellow ones)

I remember the sand flies being yellow if that’s what you mean, and those were something awful when I was down in Miami Beach, Everglades, and the Bahamas growing up.

Speaking of annoying pests in this thread ;) ........Were you far enough north to have the stable flies? The ones that look like a slightly small average house flies but bit like a horse fly on crack? Those things HURT!.....way more than a horsefly.
