Since we got high winds and storms inbound, let's see your favorite survival type knife and a generator.

How about a knife and a hardcover book that is in Public Domain.

We got here some kind of stealth flies !!
No sounds at all, no checking the target, just precise attack like laser guided bomb !!!
Then skin bubble and rash and swell for a month, very nasty crap

Around here we call those “ no see ums “, you just never see em (1mm), just the red swollen aftermath and itch like crazy. Ammonia soaked into a cotton ball held on it works pretty good to get the swelling and itch down, but the red mark stays for a few weeks. Nasty biters for sure and no chance to swat em back in return.

In southern Georgia, No-see-ums are annoying little gnats that buzz in your ears like mosquitoes non stop. They don’t bite and you can swat at your ears all day but you’ll never stop them and you never see them.

While visiting there, I’ve gone fishing with ear plugs in because I’m not acclimated to them.

Not no see ums !

Actually, and still

Speaking of annoying pests in this thread ;) ........Were you far enough north to have the stable flies? The ones that look like a slightly small average house flies but bit like a horse fly on crack? Those things HURT!.....way more than a horsefly.
I think that's what we called black flies, tenacious little boogers. The bites itch and scab over if you scratch them, and will subsequently scar. I'd rather face mosquitoes 🤣

That’s actually kind of funny because no-see-ums don’t really effect me, like I’ll feel it when they first bite but after that there’s no side effects 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm thankful that mosquitoes, Flys, ticks, don't like me. Mosquitoes will land on me and not bite. It's weird, haven't been bit by anything except a spider in years, and I live in a very wooded area.

Unfortunately, yellowjackets don't like me - they hate me. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been stung by those little bass turds. A couple of times while sleeping indoors! Eventually, I got to the point of killing them when they stung me...so now they typically come after me in groups, knowing I'll only be able to get a few of them.

Focus: public domain hardcover. I've probably got one; but don't have time to look. Have to be at the hospital before 0630 for a day in the OR.
