Funny story about that generator I posted:
The generator was to be installed on the roof of the restaurant I mentioned, about 25' high. Our electrician and myself were up on the roof when the crane came to set it in place. We're standing there on the roof with a 3,500lb generator hanging from the boom and the electrician finally tells me "I don't know any crane signals"I was dumbfounded...
I'm running back and forth from the roof curb to the parapet wall, trying to signal our crane and set the gen in place at the same time. The electrician was just standing in the background the whole time, just playing with his phone. About 10 minutes go by and the gen is almost in place, I'm pissed since I'm doing everything myself. I yell at the electrician and ask him why the hell he's just standing there on his phone, and he tells me "I'm trying to google crane signals"![]()
Man, that was a bad day![]()

I have some very similar stories about people directing aircraft.
I'm sure it wasn't on the same boat (aircraft carrier dry humor) but yeah take a kid right out of high school and send them to school for a couple months then let them direct officers who are pretty much right out of college... sometimes ends up pretty bad. I've known people to get their foot/ankle ran over by a 36k aircraft tire. I've seen them direct jets into the island of an aircraft carrier and other jets and so on. It happens a lot more than people thinkAircrafts?
