Alright ladies and gents, who would like to get their hands on a few GEC knives to see how they feel in hand? I will open this up to about 10 or 15 people if the interest is there. You dont have to be a regular to just the traditionals but you must be a 6month member min. and I reserve the right to not include someone at my discretion. Must be able to ship to next person at your expense and within 1 WEEK of recieving knives(dont want this to drag out for months). You must also pay and put $500 insurance on the package when you ship it. If you can do this then please put your name in the hat :)

I am ok with everyone using them if they like. If anyone in particular is great at sharpening also speak up and ill arrange any of you spread out to make sure people get to test a sharp knife :)

If a fellow forumite has a couple more patterns they want to add I could ship to them first and then return your contribution at the end. I know we have a passaround forum mods but it doesnt get much traffic and I feel that forum is mainly used by makers, not production models. I hope that the borrowers will report back in the thread with any little reviews they can

Here is the selection
53 ebony stockman
55 houndstooth(rehandled by Markesharp)
2013 forum knife
79 montana whittler in ruby red jig bone.

What a generous offer!
I'm in and will gladly be a 'sharpener' as you see fit.
Thanks a lot.

I think I am OK with this. It's up to you fellas to keep the records and keep everything on the up and up. This is not an official BladeForums endeavor.

Most generous Jeff, tremendous spirit!

I'm in another continent and I believe I have all of those but any serious member needing a test-run would be insane to pass this up.

Warmest regards, Will

Thanks Frank, Will

Glad to see someone has taken me up on the offer :)

Don't be shy folks, it only costs you the price of shipping with insurance (maybe $12.00) to test drive a few models.

Adding one more to the mix

Going to ship these out on Tuesday, so far looks like Peppercorn will get to keep these for a bit :)

I'll join in and I will add in a regular sodbuster in Orange delrin for people to compare that to the sheepsfoot. I also thinned the edge in mine so it is quite slicey.

Guys, this is great. I jumped on this as soon as I saw it last night, just sure I'd already missed the boat.

I'd like to take a handle on these...three days only....I might need a few more days to get through all these. Thanks for the opportunity to try them out.

I'd love to take a turn!
I've never so much as seen a GEC in person.

Thanks so much for the opportunity.

You got it guys.

3 days is not mandatory by any means. If anyone needs a few more days it is no big deal. I was just trying to convey that I didnt want people to sit on them for 2 weeks.

Very generous of you, Jeff! I bet a lot of folks will fall in love with GEC's beauties from your kindness. Well done, sir!

Edit was to ask about having a list made and their takes on the knives via a review but you beat me to the punch, lol. But im going to leave this up as ideas for reviews.

I also would like to have each of the participants to weigh in on each knife, what they liked and didn't like on each, if they think something could improve a certain knife, what would it be ei: a spear point instead of trailing point on the sodbuster.

This is a really peculiar opportunity, one in which that we will have a random group of people, with random tasks asked of each knife, different environments and different size hands, all handling a "control group" of knives.
With this type of event being brought to the public with nothing to lose, aside from a few $ for shipping, I think a little bit of information from each peraon on each knife would yield an incredible wealth of knowledge for someone interested in purchasing a type of knife, or whether one might be a good fit for their needs.

I would love to hear the input from all participating, and hopefully new people to the table would have some more ideas.

EDIT: I shouldn't have been writing posts last night when I wrote this one.

Good luck to all those involved. Enjoy, and I do applaud the generosity of those involved. I love this place.

I have changed it to 1 week. I am just trying to keep them moving along is all. The time you have them is not important as long as you are using them :)

The insurance cant be helped. I am shipping these off on tuesday and will let everyone know exactly what the insurance costs.
