A Girl's Journey to Becoming Survival Savy

Congrats on your new "for myself" gifts, they are the best and welcome aboard, Good fun,Great people..... And a boat load of info, Enjoy

You need a good fixed blade. I think I still have pink g-10...

If not I'll send you some- I got some for a Fiddleback style handle, but a Fiddleback handle in pink (And black IMO) would be great! Let me know and I'll ship it to you!:D Are you thinking of a pink Ladyfinger for a lady?

I would love some! I would have to find someone to make me the handle but I would definently love to have some!

So, I got my Izula today and I was so excited! I looked through all the things, it came with the mini survival kit as well, and looked at all the different things you can do with it. Immediately I wanted to do some cord wrapping just to see if I could do it, and I did it perfectly (I think):D:D:D:D:D:D!
Included are some pics (they aren't great pics but you'll get the idea) of the cord wrapping I did. Just another small step in a great direction:o

WOO HOO! Thanks for the encouragement! I couldn't have been more proud. My boyfriend came home and I showed him. He asked if it was tight, touched it, and so oh yea it is. He then said it looked really nice! Go me hahaha!:D

My wife is a good little hiker, outdoorsman (OK outdoorsperson :))

She doesn't know it yet but I've got an RC-3 with her name on it. I think a pink Izula might be appropriate also.

Great work, looks real nice.

Now get out there and put some marks on that nice clean blade! :D

now lets see you with the knife! congrats. its a great lil knife for sure. practice with the firestarter though.. it can be tough at first.

Just thought I would update on a few things since I haven't in awhile. I have been so busy with other things in life I haven't had time to focus on me very much. I received my bug out bag in the mail about a week ago and needless to say I was pretty excited! I got some trioxane compressed fuel packets, a bandanna, and a P-51 can opener from my local PX store. My boyfriend bought me some more cord for wrapping and to just have some. I played with my fire starter that came in my ESEE survival kit which was fun. I still have A LOT of room to fill in my bag but things are coming along and I am pleased! Did I mention I got a very awesome patch for the front of my bag, it's a Monkey Gun Girl Patch from LA Police Gear, I purchased the high contrast one. Ah, it's so me =) http://www.lapolicegear.com/patch-gun-girl-1.html.
So there's my little update! Thanks for reading.

Awesome!! Now go dirty it up real good and take pics:thumbup::D. Moose

Congrats on your Izula bladegirl!!! (and the exquisite wrapping - i wish i had learned that weave....).

Anyway, i *just* (like 10 minutes ago) bought my 7-year-old daughter her 1st knife and whaddya know - it's a PINK IZULA!!!! I ordered it with her name to be laser-etched on it as well. We'll have a special time together when we return to the States and pick it up (we live in SE Europe).

Maybe a nice place to try out your nifty new B.O.B and kit is a little place 'bout 3-3 1/2 hours from you called "Nordhouse Dunes". It's a favorite winter camping/training place for me when i'm home in the Great Lake State.

Good to hear and I love that patch...pretty cool:thumbup::D As you continue to build your BoB, do a little "dirt" time; some backyard camping, day hikes or even backpacking. It doesn't take too long before you'll figure out what works, what doesn't work, what can provide multiple uses, what items should have a certain level of redundancy and what is un-used weight.

I always caution people that a Bug-Out-Bag is a little different than a recreational backpacking pack...including the contents. Some items are very similar, some are quite different. Thanks for the update,

I will definitely get into some dirt asap. I have a little bit of an obsession with everything being "right" and put together perfectly before I begin my explorations. I will have to learn to put that little tid bit of OCD aside and just start using what I already have, right? For sweetest day, my sweety got me a GSI Glacier Cup yesterday. I also bought some water proof matches with a container, and some cord to play around with. I am looking into making some survival bracelets so I just bought some pink para cord online along with Dymonwood Purple & Black scales (not that that has anything to do with making survival bracelets). As far as posting pics, I will do so when I am out and about on an adventure lol. Thanks for the interest as always!
