a good bushcraft knife for 150.00$ or lower

hey does anyone have any experince with the bark river fox river

It's a great knife, a hair over 5" blade. I have a custom model, the handle is just big enough for my paws. Not really bushcraft size, but in the general vein. My new favorite production fixed blade.

The Fox River has a 4.25" blade,

...but for bushcrafting, look at it's brother the Northstar.

Same blade lenght but the handle slabs extent to the plunge line.

Both great knives.

Personally, I like the Recurve Fox River.

Take a look at the Doug Ritter RSK Mk3 - also called the fixed Ritergrip. Its $165.

4.5" S30V blade with full tang G10 handle. The 0.14" thick blade with high grind makes it a great slicer, but still very tough. Lanyard hole sized for paracord. Custom-made by Benchmade. Very nice!

Much more information here:

I've been doing extensive back-country camping for 40 years. Used to teach a 3-5 day "survival" course for Boy Scout camps back in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The knife you have with you, all of the time, is the best "bushcraft" knife IMO. Keep it sharp, learn how to sharpen it afield, and learn how to use it safely and effectively. I'm in the minority who believe that knives are for cutting/slicing/stabbing and not for chopping. Tons of incredible knives out there in the price range you mentioned. My preferences are ones that are designed as hunting knives so that you can process any game/food you might hunt/kill/find, etc. Much easier to do with a hunting knife -- again IMO -- than with a "bushcraft" knife. YMMV.

The great thing is, there are no wrong answers! :D

Happy trails! And, Happy New Year (in advance)!

hey guys no more Recommendations for me i just placed for a brkt fox river some pice when it arrives

Pimpnugget, you're gonna love it:thumbup: The Fox River makes a great bushcrafter.

Can't go wrong with the FoxRiver. I at on time used it quite a bit. It has been sitting due to alot of customs knives I have purchased. I still have it and will not sell it as it is a great knife that can cut extremely well. It has a convex grind which works differently than the scand you had with your Mora. If you want a great scandi in the price range, get a Koster Bushcraft in 3V. Alot of people including myself have only one negative to say about it, and that is the handle is/was a lil thin. He is now making them with thicker scales.

Edit: Again I didn't read to the end. Congrats on your purchase!

+1 Stomper JK Kephart for a custom or RAT RC-4 if you want a production.

I have one of each and love them both. I don't think I could hurt either one of them if I tried.

I just placed a order for a Koster bushcraft, CPM 3V with cocobolo handle, They are a bit more then a standard, but they are available and ready to ship, the price includes a sheath.
I found them at workingknives.com.
