Well Kuruptd punked out on a lil get together today. However Rescue Riley, Big Mike, and I hit the woods for a great day out.

R.R arrived at my place about 11:15, and after good lunch of Buffalo Burgers we headed on out to meet Mike at the trail head.

Big Mike showed up soon enough and we were on our way to a nice lil spot Mike new.

On the way, we spotted some cool Fungi. I have no clue what it is. Feel free to clue me in about it.

It may or may not be edible for us, but this lil guy seamed to enjoy it.

As always CT offers great lil natural shelters.

When we got to the spot, we understood why Mike liked it so much.

I have had this knife that SDS made for me for awhile now. I still haven't used it extensively, but from the use I have gave it; I really like it.

I started to baton a lil log with it. Then I realized someone made a home in it...

I know most of you have seen a few reviews of the new BRKT Gunny, so I won't get into how awesome it is. However, I got to handle one last week and found some things out. It cuts great and is comfortable for the most part, but that damn ramp is bothersome and serves no purpose IMO. Thats why I was so glad I contacted Derrick from Knives Ship Free awhile ago about getting me a rampless version. It came yesterday and damn, do I love it. Its about the perfect 4" knife IMO.

More to come.

Here's a pic next to a regular Gunny.

Ofcourse Since Resue Riley was here, we had to do something with our time. So we decided to make a swamp bed type shelter. Riley went to work with his Tram.

Marcelo was kind enought to let us check out his new Walter Davis knives. The big ole Hudson Bay type came in handy. It is extremely comfortable and chops mighty well with that awesome edge Walter puts on his knives!

In no time we had a useable shelter up.

Riley kept trying to convince me it was a two person shelter, but I felt uncomfortable climbing in there with him. You know with Mike watching and all....

All in all we had a great time! I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by such great people! Ofcourse sometimes we carry too much sharp things, but thats all part of the fun right?

I know the other two stooges have pics also. Maybe they will be around soon enough to share them.

As always, thanks for looking.

Great stuff, that looks like fun! I love the big steel shot in the end!

Sounds like you guys had a blast! Looks like as well. Maybe next time it will just be you and Riley though :D

Looks fun! I hope to have more time for that sort of thing myself now that school is about to end.

What is that scandi that Riley was sporting?

Hey tony ... looks like I missed out on a great time ... sorry I couldn't make it :thumbdn:
I caught a bug over the weekend and just wasn't up to it.. next time bud

awesome pics Tony... definitely looks like a good time, with some great folks...:)

Traps make Jake nervous.

Always good to have Riley in town!

Next time opt for the $25 hooker, The sick feeling only lasts for a day I'm told. ;)

At Mike. Thanks for capturing the worst possible picks of me:rolleyes:

Walter, I love youre Bushcraft models, but I think I am gonna need one of you're big knives as well bro!

That Clip point is a mean bastid and is very fast in hand, but that Hudson Bay style is outright awesome:thumbup:

Looks like you guys had a good time, but I have to ask - aren't you guys concerned at all about ticks, especially John with his sandals?

Or do you have a secret weapon?

Doc

Deet. G.P.

I pulled a few off my shirt when I got back home. John had 1 on him when we were out. They don't like Mike however...

Its part of life over here, we just deal with it.

I've been using my dog's tick shampoo. Not sure how safe it is, but it kills 'em pretty quick ;)
