Going to do a lot more looking for the stuff , as my supply is running low. Plus , all the cutting tools I bought in winter need a good work-out !!

For real man, how much for a bag of "Grade A?" I'm curious as to whether or not it's going to be worth it for me to drive an hour out to the woods and try to harvest some or if I should just buy some...

As I mentioned before, I get jealous every time I see you post new pics... Keep 'em coming!

You should build something out of fat-wood. Like bench or something. Just for fun. would never rot.

That's crazy! I took my wife and son for a light fatwood hunt yesterday and found squat. What's your secret?
Does anyone know how long it takes for fatwood to form in a cut stump? We had a freakish wind storm recently that felled trees everywhere including lots of pines near my house. One huge sucker, about 3' in diameter at it's base, snapped and fell in my front yard.

Takes a good deal of time for the sap to reduce, it has pretty high water content, long enough for the tree to rot naturally.

Look for a stand of conifers, then look more closely for old dead ones, even small stumps have a great amount of fatwood.

Take a good light weight saw with you, it's tough stuff to chop up.
