I've got a watch I love, a Timex Ironman, but the plastic/rubber band keeps breaking.

Can someone recommend a good watch, that has a chronograph, timer, alarm, digital face, waterproof, and tough? I want something that can take a beating, and keep going. But, I don't want to break the bank with a $150 dive watch. I don't need fancy extras, but I want something simple and strong, but that's also no to heavy and bulky.

Thanks!

might be able to snag a luminox at that price if you look around.

Take a look at the Casio Pathfinders. I've got the Pathfinder and the Sea Pathfinder and I love 'em!

If you like the watch you have, and not the band, why not just replace the band with one that is not rubber? Is it one of the models that the outside of the watch face is molded into it or something? If so and you can't, then I'd be giving the Casio Mudman a go. It is a G-Shock model I believe.

^ Casio Pathfinder, I agree, $40. at WallyWorld - also has moon phase and major and minor feed times; choose either hunting or fishing model...

My new favorite is a Casio G-Shock "Riseman." It has a barometer, thermometer and barometric altimeter. I use the barometer daily to keep an eye on changing weather. A big plus is that this watch has solar cells to keep the battery topped off, and it synchronizes with the US atomic clock via radio signal every night, so it's always accurate!

It's my second Casio G-Shock with the solar power and time synch features. The other one is still going strong after years of rough use; I bought the new one just to have a new one....

Stay sharp,

Mines held up great! Whats happening to your band? I do deck construction and general construction for a living and it has survived all that. Im intrested in case I ever need to buy another. great thread!

I would go with a G-shock as well. A Seiko divers IS quite nice (or even a Citizen divers, really there are plenty of "cheaper" dive watches) but doesn't match your requirements. Countycomm also sells band adapters for some G-shock models so you can swap out the regular band with one of the Zulu or silicon bands they sell. Plus you can get G-shocks at much less than an automatic divers. You can get the DW5600 off amazon for like $40 I believe. The more retro box shaped G-shocks sit fairly flat against the wrist and really aren't overly big.

The watch I have the band can't be replaced! Should have thought of that when I bought it.

Heres what Ive been rocking for awhile....

Nixon 42-20. Its higer then your price range, but thought id show it anyways. I love it. Its 200M water resist, Swiss Movement, mineral crystal, and bombproof. The band is secured with screws not pins, the clasp is solid, and the band itself is solid steel, not hollow. Its heavy, but its modern looking, and built like a tank. I love the fact that the crown in on the oppisite side so it doesnt dig into my wrist, alot more comfy then other watches Ive owned. For me its the perfect watch.

A lot of people seem to be missing the point. While I too love a good automatic divers watch, last I checked most don't have a chronograph, timer, alarm, and digital display...

I overlooked that, but I feel an automatic is a great outdoors watch. If you want all that jazz, in that price range, you have to go G-Shock IMO. Nike makes Nice watches too....

Plus, I like watches....;) If I drifted to far, my apolagies to the OP. Sorry Naked. :p
