I got out into the bush on Sunday to explore a new zone for trail development, with my trusty Wildertools Kamisaurus.

Here are some pictures. Feel free to post any 'custom knives in nature' pics you have :)

Beautiful pics, Lorien. Is that Juan de Fuca on the horizon of the water photos?

Great pics Lorien ! you might need something a bit larger than the kamisaurus for that big tree mate :eek:
Cheers Keith

Lorien, what fantastic scenery, I would love to wake up to that every morning, you are a very lucky man to live in such a beautiful place. I really envy you!!

Thanks friends for the compliments :)

Will, you are correct that is the Strait of Juan de Fuca, on the other side of which is WA state and the Olympic mtns, where I would like to travel toward in order to visit a certain bladesmith sometime soon, (yeah, you Nick!).

Keith, I will not argue with you! I'm pretty sure my chainsaw, (the larger of the 2 I have) might not be sufficient to get through that fir. I was cruising through the woods and that tree stood out among a forest of pecker poles. I'm glad I found it. It's a nice tree in a cool spot.

I'm very excited about the potential for a trail in this area. It is steep and technical and dotted with killer views. I'm gonna have a busy winter.

Those are some nice pics indeed, thanks for posting. Did you have to hold back to not fell that tree in one blow :D

This!! What a location, just amazing... that massive tree blows my mind.

Great photo's. I am a bit sad, because I moved back to my home town a few years ago, and it is not forested, or mountainous, and I have spent the last 15 or so years in locations with both.

I am in Central WA which is desert, and flat. Mountains and forest North, East and West, but I have to drive to get there.

Damn, I was chest deep in the stream today ripping apart a beaver dam with a shovel and my buck thug... Forgot the camera, doh!

Too cool, bro. Marchand's stuff is just awesome. Makes you want to just get out an whack stuff with it.

HDR on those photos? Love the saturation and contrast.

If you're so close to Wheeler, throw a rock through his shop window for me.:p

Miss ya, Nick!

I just received this picture via email this morning from a friend of mine who just got back from an elk hunt in the interior.
As you can see by the antler, they bagged a monster!

They did 90% of the skinning with Ryan Week's H.U.K, which I designed, and were super impressed by its versatile, secure and comfortable grip and by the edge holding provided by the quality 1095 Ryan used in conjunction with stellar heat treatment.

Beautiful photos, all of them. A pleasure to look at. The second one of the Strait may just become my desktop background. Thank you for sharing. Mike

Very handsome, efficient design, Lorien, and Ryan makes a super nice knife. :thumbup:

From the rack, that looks like a nice blacktail or mule deer? Good job!

some pics from today's ride.

I carry this knife in my mtb pack for blowdown and general trail pruning. It's light to carry and versatile.
Chris Moss made it from 1095, with a handle made from an elastomer bearing material called PEK, I think. I wrapped it in hemp cord and sealed with spar varnish.

I think it's cool the way these mushrooms poke up outta the ground with little fuzzy moss toques;

artsy fartsy.

my bro, Russ, heading up to the summit;

at the top, there's a lookout building for keeping an eye out for forest fires. It was built in '51 and it's what you'd call 'rustic';

it was foggy and drizzly all morning but the sun broke through just before we began our descent;

bustin moves on slimy steep rocks...that's what I call fun :)

one more shot of the ole trail whacker;
