A gratuitous picture thread.

Lorien, Thanks for sharing the amazing photos, your part of the world has to be one of my favorite!

Does the lack of Sunfish mean all the work was done by Kyle? I had one of his utility knives and it was pretty impressive. It was real thick and built for business, but had the thin and extremely sharp edge that the Hansons are know for. My local "non knife guy" friend liked it so much he ended up buying it off me. Kyle is a good kid who's just as nice as his father. I spent a bunch of time with him at Blade. A good benefit to getting his work is the useablily- you won't have the hesitation you get when trying to put one of Don's pretty knives to work, but you get the same quality in the steel.

hey Jon, sorry I missed your note here.
So far as I know, this is a Kyle Hanson sole authorship knife. Looking back through the pictures, it's kind of funny the correlation between the lines of the knife, and the woodpecker I was able to spend some time with. Especially it's beak :)

Thanks gents for the kind words!

Yes, this was a sole authorship piece. Kyle has his own stamp now.

all-time favorite khukuri profile right there.

The Stukuri is a sweet design.

What are the dimensions on it? I tried googling but didn't see them anywhere.

blade's probably about 1' long. Handle's about 5"

Breathtaking pictures man, Must be amazing to get to experience that on a regular basis. thanks for sharing..........that Marchand piece is pretty amazing as well.

well, whatever it was, it's food now :)

had an epic trail scouting session yesterday with my bro, Lars. Super bagged today, glad for Mondays off :)

It used to be something of a struggle to decide which cutter to bring, but the more I spend time with Kamisaurus, (Rick Marchand aka Wildertools) the easier that decision is to make. This is about as close to perfection a cutter can be for my uses, it seems.

I eagerly anticipate the rock and gem show in Victoria every year, and we got there today as we do every year.

It's a pretty small show but there are a couple of vendors who carry a variety of raw slabs of various rock and semi precious mineral type stuff who always have some beautiful pieces.

I was super fortunate to snag some BC jade with, what I've been told, chromium deposits all through it. I've been on the hunt for some nice, dark green jade for over a year, and not only did I get that, I got some with 'bird's eye' chromium inclusions. This is really gonna work well with the theme of a knife I have in the works, and I was able to get enough of it so Quesenberry can mess around a bit before the big job.

It's been awhile since I brought Wheeler's Steel on an excursion, and I had a lot of salal to cut today so this was the perfect knife for the job. It's a capable knife for sure, but the material is very thin at the edge bevel and a little fragile for the big timbers, I've found. But for the light springy stuff, it just sings like a bell well you swing er through it. Nothing more satisfying than having followed through with your swing, and the thing you just cut is still hanging in mid air. It's the little things that keep life engaging :)

I love that you actually use the high dollar blades. I have a hard time keeping a knife in the safe. Love the wheeler steel pics :)

thanks man!

I really do enjoy using these knives a lot, and find that learning how to use each one is something that actually takes a fair amount of time. They all have different characteristics and limitations and becoming acquainted with them is extremely satisfying.

Now, I'm gonna have to get some new knives in hand just so those of you who enjoy this thread don't get bored of seeing the same knives over and over again :)
