A gratuitous picture thread.

Stunning photos, Lorien. I may have to come out there sometime to ride the trails. Though, I'm not sure I could keep up, bud... but what a wonderful place to suck-wind and vomit.:p

you're welcome any time my man!

Thank you Erica!
I will be posting photos from today's outing tomorrow :)

Nice hike Lorien. Where is that? I'd like to take the kids there some time, or accompany you on a family hike. I think they'd get a kick out of the suspension bridge and that beach.

great idea Stuart! Let's keep in touch and make it a Sunday. It'll be a long day for you guys, but Mystic Beach is almost* always worth it.

*except when there's 4' of mud on the trail.

Very funny - post #47, 3rd from bottom. Really enjoying these pics, Lorien.

a day at the musuem!

Well... I know what I'm making next. Sweet!

A super-freaky-ass monkey sculpture???

Awesome photos Lorien!

Your daughter sure has grown! At first I thought the photo of her at the beach was your wife. Time flies!!!

Getting out and hiking in that kind of natural beauty is one of the best things a family can do together, IMHO.

ha ha...thanks guys!
can't wait to see Rick's monkey sculpture :)

this fellow was not in any way concerned that I was nearby. Some of these shots were taken within 6 feet of Mr. Hungry, and he just kept listening for bugs and pecking away at them. I had spent the past two hours hacking and flagging and figured it was time for a cider and some smoke. Didn't really notice this guy until I sat down for a moment. He was good company.

A new knife!!! Kyle Hanson made this little beauty. Not really sure what to do with it yet. Should I make a sheath for carrying around, or keep it in the kitchen? Time will tell, but I'm really quite happy with it, even without the sunfish.

I've been working harden then ever, building trails, building my business, being as a family. Not much time or dollars for new knives, so it's really nice to get a little something new.

Thank you Don Hanson, and Kyle! I hope you enjoy your slippies, and that they increase in value and potentially contribute to a tuition!

Knives can always be more than knives, if you collect em. Sometimes a new acquisition has a far bigger impact on one's worldview than the knife's existence as a tool would otherwise imply.

Does the lack of Sunfish mean all the work was done by Kyle? I had one of his utility knives and it was pretty impressive. It was real thick and built for business, but had the thin and extremely sharp edge that the Hansons are know for. My local "non knife guy" friend liked it so much he ended up buying it off me. Kyle is a good kid who's just as nice as his father. I spent a bunch of time with him at Blade. A good benefit to getting his work is the useablily- you won't have the hesitation you get when trying to put one of Don's pretty knives to work, but you get the same quality in the steel.

we don't get much snow on this edge of the continent, so it's a weird experience to see so much of it.

this backpack has been surprisingly durable. It does not get the kid glove treatment by any means. I saw it laying there, and it just looked so ugly and haggard I had to get a shot of it.
