A inside out review of the Sage (TONS and TONS of pix)

Will there be versions with other lock mechanisms?

Yes. The thing about the Sage line is that revisions will periodically be released with different locks. The next one, whenever it comes out, is going to be a frame/integral lock.

How easy is the Sage to Spyder-drop? It seems like their linerlocks open this way a lot easier than the lockbacks.

Don't like liner locks, but release a Sage with the classic ball bearing lock and I 'll get one right away.

I think Sal has special plans for the ball bearing Sage... think I heard some talks about using translucent handles so you can see the inside of the knife

I'm gonna have to get one... I'll have to ignore the backspacer, but this is just too sexy of a knife. Argh, I'll have to try and hold out till December... Seriously, though, lovely piece of cutlery.

The Sage is a very, very nice knife. It is my favorite Spydie so far- and I have most of them. I picked one up when they were first released and have been EDCing it ever since. I usually don't like liner locks, but believe me, this one is done right. It is a mature design from a master at the top of his game.

I'm looking forward to all of the different versions of the Sage. I'll buy every one.
I can't wait for the compression-lock version!

Great review, nice pic's, outstanding attention to the details engineered into this knife.

I didn't even know it was coming, but when I saw it.. it was a must have. I agree this is a great knife and a nice value.

Thanks.

Yeah yeah, great review thanks alot, but now I want- no wait, want isn't strong enough...NEED another knife! =D oh well, on the list it goes. great pics btw.

@ So-Lo: Thanks for those photos! That stop pin is one solid piece! You've just convinced me to have one! Sal said the S30V is quite abrasive against another steel. I just wonder what kind of steel the lockbar and the stop pin is made of?

Man that looks sweet! I have a Caly 3 on the way but I think the Sage in next on my hit list.

Looks very nice...if you're right-handed.

I'm not unfortunately, but I still want one. Out of three knives in my current edc only one is lefty friendly so I am used to it now. I want to wait for another lock, but I really want the CF so I may just go ahead and get one anyway.

This will be worth the wait, thanks for the info. :)

Thank you for sharing So-Lo! Very nice camera skills also my friend! Nice work!

Thanks

You all would laugh if you see what it takes to set up my pic area. :D I just slap a piece of scrap booking paper down on my washer, turn the flash off and the macro on our 8 mega pixel Cannon power shot and shoot about three of each pic. I do not use any photoshop or any editing program. The pics are not even cropped. No windows in the wash room, and no extra lights lighting the knives. Then I just pop the card in my puter' and up load the best of the bunch up to photobucket.

I have three very young kids, so there is no time for setting up a good pic, but I try
