A knife for life

The Brian Tighe clone has been discussed here at length. The videos you find laughable are a successful amarketing tool. They don't need you to recommend their knives. They are doing fine recommending them on their own.

We can pick at many companies and their owners/personnel for real or perceived ethical or personal lapses. There are frequent threads for this, and they are VERY popular. This thread is more along the lines of the characteristics of knives themselves and their usability.

A little topic drift is inevitable in a community with such diverse interests and viewpoints, but lets take a deep breath and focus before we start screaming. :D

Definitely didn't mean to hijack the thread, but trying the search feature gets me the "page not found" notice, hence the question about CS. I think any company should be concerned about word of mouth. Seems like good business practice to want people to recommend their product.
BTW, My local knife guy was telling me the other day that there is a lot of talk from many sales reps from various companies that S30v may see a drop in popularity on knife models. He says that there have been a lot of complaints about how hard it is to sharpen. Might be interesting to see if this happens or not.....

No, what do you mean? There is no "best knife". What is the best car? Lexus, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, and which model?

Good old USA Corvette! IMHO!!!

I have to honestly say that my knife for life so far is an ordinary stockman slip joint - It's been my go-to knife for my most frequent cutting chores. That does not stop me from carrying my favorite Sebenza, Microtech, custom whatever. It just that it's sheeple friendly, looks great, makes for nice conversation when it's extracted for use with onlookers and happens to dovetail with the types of cutting I do. I also don't mind when it gets gunked up and has to stay that way until I can clean it later. I hate when my snazzier knives get gunked up.

The best knife is the one you have at hand.

Barring that, What do you need to do with it? SAKs are horrible for self defense, but a Gunting doesn't have a screwdriver.

You just want to cut? Get an opinel.

You work in construction? get an endura

You're a ceo? get a william henry

You work in a kitchen? Global

Whittle? a whittler pattern S&M

And for some of the young guys around, that ad features Jot Singh Khalsa, the designer of the knife he's "riding".
