WOW...Thanks Everybody....

I can sure get you set up with these...

Jacob,You bet I would like to get my name out like that:D

But now I am having trouble thinking of a cool name to call it,kind of wanted to name it after the officer that helped me design it,but he wants the 1* in the name somehow.Anyone have any ideas.
Bruce

how about the Police Backup Special. or simply Police Backup or Police Special. if you like either one of those make sure you mention my name on your site. :D:D:D:D HEHEHEHEHE!!!!!

That would look sooooooo good behind my mag pouch!! That's a great place for it- I currently carry a buck/strider folder with a pocket clip similarly. Soon as I get back from paternity leave I'll show this to The Powers That Be. That is a great idea and design! They always look at me funny when I say I want a fixed blade on my belt, but this looks subdued enough for them.

I like the sheath idea, the big thing that's prevented me from going to a fixed-blade is lack of room to put it! The K-Bar TDI is a good weapon, but with Taser, radio, cuffs, etc, there's no room on my belt on the weak side.

Bruce,

Excellent design, and for a good cause. One thing though. If you decide to use "1*" in the name, I'd contact Yost-Bonitz first and see if they have it trademarked, etc. If they do, they may very well allow you to use it and you might get some great publicity in the LEO community if you worked something with them.

Keep up the good work,

-d

Thanks for all the great comments everybody...

deker,The 1* If I remeber correctly is another one of those Cop Things, but I will check into it before using it in a name.

The name I was thinking was The "PTF" short for Police Tactical Fixed blade. And my buddy thought it would look cool if it was PTF1* He said most people would just think I was calling it my first one but the cops would know differently...

I just found a little more info on it for you:

The 1* logo has become kind of the unofficial logo of the SWAT guys, and those working in harm's way. The need for a reliable, no-frills and no nonsense pistol has never been more important. After all, when things go bad, we only have "one ass to risk". The slogan and logo were originated by famed gun writer Gary Paul Johnston, and he has authorized Yost-Bonitz to use the logo on selected guns from our shop.

So, there's a little history for you :)

Looking good Bruce!
I was thinking more along the lines of WTSHTF knife...but that's me :D

Columbia River was using the "1*" for a while, as well.

And...I know....I owe you a phone call ;)

Bruce, expect a call if you havent already received the call from the bandera county sheriffs department. probably from the investigator i talked to. he wants pics and prices and stuff. if you send them a flyer he will post it up and stuff. i talked to a couple of the sheriffs who are also volunteer firefighters and they really want to see the rescue knife when its finished. that should get you alot more business. you are going to be swamped with making knives for cops and firefighters pretty soon. have fun!!!!!  :D

I was trying to remember where I had seen that. i think it ws CRKT and I think they have it on patches that they include with certain models of knives.

I think I will drop the idea for the 1* in the name.but keep the black and blue beads...

Jacob,I didnt hear from them today, but I was on the computer and had the phone line tied up most of the day.Hope I hear from them, and I will get started on my rescue knife this weekend or next week.

Thanks for all the great comments everybody.

bruce im going to email you my snail mail address so you an send me a few flyers with the pics, description, prices, and warranty on it along with the contact info and ill pass them to the sheriffs and the cops. also send me the flyers for the rescue knife when you get it finished and photographed and have the same info on it and ill post them at the 3 main fire departments around here. be sure and check your email for my address. ill help make you "famous". or infamous. which ever comes first. HEHEHEHE!!!!

Bruce, have you considered putting a carbide glass breaker on the butt/pommel end?

AR fan,I did consider that idea, but on this model I was thinking that it could hurt the hand if the palm hit it.Now I have a different model on the books that will get one.It isnt a skeleten style though just thin.

If any of you have any suggestions on a way to make this a more universal carry system I am all ears Been thinking of making a thin leather covered kydex sheath with the back made to resemble the back of the ammo pouch so it could be carried in horizontal or vertical carry,or even a different carry system that could be offered would be cool also...

With as much attention as this is getting I need to do some standardizing as this was just the first 2 made, and I want it so anyone that wants one will be able to carry it.

Also I will be willing to make these specific to a specific department or standard of blade shape that will be needed for any of the officers wanting one, just need specifics of what is wanted...Gotta help out the ones who keep us safe at home.
