A lil bit of helped needed from my forum friends

OK, you need boots and hat for a trip across the US.

Paris Hatters, in San Antonio, has both. Open there since 1917, it's full service. Take a look here.

If you're goin' to Nazereth give Bud Nealy a call, he lives 35 minutes from Nazereth as do I, too bad ya weren't out this way a couple of weeks earlier, ya could go to Music Fest, a 10 day festival with over a hundred bands playin'.

While yer out here ya could visit the Yuengling Brewery, always one of my favorite stops, there's also Dorney Park, a huge Amusement Park also within' 10-15 minutes from Nazereth.

+1 on Yuengling, the 1st Continuously operating brewery in the US. Not like you don't have a few old breweries in Ireland. Wish I could get some here.

Well everyone, it has been a while since I've been on here properly. I took the plunge the other day and the trip is booked and I'm in your fine country from the 6th of September to the 30th. Thanks everyone for their great suggestions and hospitality. Please keep the suggestions coming :), thanks so much.

I notice you mentioned boots. In San Antonio theres a great shop called Dave Little Boots.Custom hand made boots, nice people, and will make your boots to fit, with anything you want on em.They aint cheap...but I think 1 GREAT pair of boots is worth it. It's probably a 10 minute drive from the Alamo, might want to contact them first if you are gonna try and get fitted. www.davelittleboots.com Hope ya have a great trip!

San antonio - Eat at Mi Tierra Cafe - www.mitierracafe.com
Alamo - The building and current location are underwhelming; the history is amazing.
Austin - Shoot at Red's Indoor Range - he has 2 locations; both rent firearms. The larger range is a 10 lane 100 yard indoor range. - www.redsguns.com
Dallas - Meh
Shreveport - A local landmark is Herby-K's. It's in an iffy, dying part of town, but the staff and food are worth the visit (if you like fried food!) - www.herbyks.net
Little Rock - No idea. I've only visited Y City and Siloam Springs.
Memphis - Are you a fan of the late Elvis Presley? His home is there right in the middle of a ghetto.
Nashville - They play both kinds of music there; Country AND Western.
Rugby, Virginia - No idea.
Washington - Too much to mention. Apologies in advance for the politics spewing out of there.
Nazareth - No idea.
New York - No idea.

-1 Yuengling - It's just another North American P*sswater Beer.

the route is

San antonio
Alamo
Austin
Dallas
Shreveport
Little Rock
Memphis
Nashville
Rugby, Virginia
Washington
Nazareth
New York

Phew - I'm tired :D

I assume that "Nazareth" is Nazareth, PA to see the Martin factory. Good choice. Along the way, visit Bluefield, VA to see New Graham Knives and their very wide selection of blades, all laid out in front of you in glass cases. Also, IIRC, Fender has a guitar facility in TN? Maybe in Sugar Hill? Most public gun ranges, at least the ones in the south, will have a variety of handguns and long guns that you can rent and shoot. Just make sure that the range has the capability of handling long guns. Some smaller indoor ranges are handgun only ranges.

Since you're going through AR, you might look up the address of the A G Russell store there and visit them while you're in the state. Don't know of any manufacturers along your route. BM, Spyderco, and CRK are in the west/northwest part of the country. Those are the only manufacturers that I'm really familiar with. Some of the other big names may have facilities along your route.

One thing you might try is checking the custom makers subforums here to see where some of the makers are. If any are along your route, write to them and ask if they mind you dropping in. You'll need to provide a date and time, or accept the date/time they offer you since they're busy people, and then make sure you're on time, but that might be a way to see how individual custom makers handle their craft.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Make sure you go to Texas Land and Cattle and get the best steak you will ever eat in your lifetime. I also enjoy all of Texas, and am overwhelmed with the question too. The Sam Houston statue is kinda cool, he is as tall as the trees.

I wanted to go to La Grange, cause of the ZZ Top song, but as I was workin' I didn't have time. Apparantly they gotta nice gurlz.
