  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

A little box of BIG goodness. NOW-X 2!!! Pics Both together FPR & FFG 16, & 15, 17

Ohhhh wow the bk-16 was already a sweet knife, then you did THAT to it. Nice mod, could you tell me how you did the handle like that? It would be much appreciated!

it's stippling...I did it with a soldering iron. Just kinda ''tap'' the plastic with the tip, makes lil melted divots.Great traction, and if u use a light touch with the 'iron and sand it lightly afterwards...it feels great on the hand!

@TwinStick This might be the wrong place to say , but I am digging that fat Boker. What's the weight like on that thing?

IDK, i don't have a scale, but it is a hefty mofo. I do not mind the weight. I carried it ALL day today & still have it on. Worked on the truck. No issues. Buddy came over, i sharpened some of his knives. He could not believe how friggin sharp all of mine were. I warned him. He cut himself on my daughters large lawman, pretty good too.

Nice pick ups Twinsticks! Who did you order from?

GP Knives for my reg prod run FFG BK16 & BK17,TDI clip & Ka-Bar piggyback. SMKW for the FPR Becker tweeners Boker BOB & Remington folder. If we are not allowed to say who we bought from---sorry, please delete. I had my reasons to buy from where i did.

Thank you good sir for helping a noob to Becker knives. I want to be down with the big boys!

Great little collection you have there! Is that BK11 in 440A? My 11 is a couple months old and is a 440A model, I was hoping for something a little stronger!

watcha mean? steel?

KaBar/Beckers are 1095CV except for the BK13 which is stainless steel of some sort..and the SanMai BK11 which is no longer produced. Other steels were used in the Camillus and Blackjack eras IIRC.

I'm sorry I meant to say BK13 not BK11! It says on KnifeCenter the BK13 was 440A.

no worries man. I was just confused lol

maybe I should get a 13 one of these days. but I have the ''tiny knife'' category pretty well covered with my Wohlwend Tin-Knife

I will say I am really surprised that that they are using a 440A steel on them. Sadly, I have turned into a steel snob recently *gasp*.

I really don't care about what particular steel. As long as it sharpens up nicely, hold it's edge well, is not brittle & can take a good batoning, then i am good with it. 1095 Cro-Van has proven itself over & over & over again to me, & continues to every time i use the it. Plus it is economically priced. I just had a work buddy come over last night & he brought his "awesome blades" with him. I had to "take him to school" about knives. Good guy but needed some knowledge as to what makes a knife a good knife. Well, i gave it to him. By the time he left, he graduated the "Becker School of Hard Knocks". I took my BK9 & batoned it through a wickedly twisted piece of black walnut. Then i asked him which one of his knives would he want me to do that with. The reply was "ahhhh---none of them." I told him, he could take any one of my Beckers---including the little ones, as well as any other knife i had in my "tote-of-knives" & do that with them. He called me back after he left saying he was gonna drop the hammer on a BK7. :D

I would agree that for batoning some of those less brittle steals work great! But for that little necker I figured it would be something a little better than that 440A... I mean you aren't gunna use a 2 inch blade for much batoning!
