A little help/support - Users only!

Here's a perspective from a user/collector. I do collect some safe queens but the ones that are in the safe are all ones that I would easily grab to use in a desperate situation. That is to say, I don't buy knives that just look cool, I buy ones that I think would make a good user and keep a few extra in the safe for collection purposes.

So, as shocking as this might sound coming from me, I would say sell the knife (since I know what it is and I don't think it is a very practical knife) and buy what you need. I have been contemplating this very thing because I need to fund other stuff. This thread may push me over the edge to sell some sweet knives that are collecting dust.

I just mean they don't seem to have paint that doesn't contain lead or even cadmium for toys, drinking glasses etc. No way I'm cooking for my family on one, but that's just me. Sorry I brought it up.

Sell the knife. Buy a used grill at the salvation army. Then go buy 3 new knives.

Again... I really appreciate the insight considering how knife biased we all really are. The "sell it" opinion is a rare one. I know the decision is mine to make. But the opinions of fellow knife freaks help. I hope you can make the right decision too. Weighing happiness is really hard! :D

If you have 5 Busses and 7 bussekin knives surely there must be room in there to thin some out? Not knowing what you have it's hard to say what you should let go and keep but deep down you will know what users you use and which ones you use just so you can say you use them and therefore keep them.

For example I had at one point 3 HR's, NMSFNO, SFNO LE, 2 TW's, CG ASH-1, SJTAC, SAR5, Scrapper 5 and a HOGFSH. Now I still have some of them but I have sold 8 and will sell 2 more before i'm done. There was just no point having all those mid-sized knives.

What I'm saying is look sideways at the problem the safe queen may not be your only solution.

Hahaha... no worries. Opinions are welcome and I took no offense or anything. I think Weber is good to go though. They've been around a long time.

...wait a minute... Weber is made in Illinois!!

Hmmm... perhaps... but I'd have to liquidate many knives to reach the value of this one.

Here's the list:

NMFBMLE
SAR-3 SE
Skinny ASH
HG-55 LE
Ruck
Force One
Ratmandu
Swamp Warden

Very little redundancy if any in there. That's what is left of the 14 I had paired down to unique sizes and uses... I mean really... who needs 3 Dog Fathers in 3 colors? :D

Skinny ASH, HG-55 LE, Force One, Ratmandu, Swamp Warden all for the chop (if it was me)

That way you keep:
1 XL: Ruck
1 L: NMFBMLE
1 M/S: SAR3 SE

I would possibly keep the Force One as it will be hard to replace later.

Jeez!!! Now you got me selling 5 knives!!! I'm trying to buy a Weber Grill... not Holly Weber. :D

Nothing wrong with grilling on a Weber gas grill. We are very happy with ours. Sell the knife.

Well... the deed is done. If it was at all unclear what I was selling, there "might" be a thread "somewhere" with my name on it. :D

Good luck with the sale and remember 'no regrets'. Post pics of the grill when you get her fired up.

sell it. unless its historic, like say a civil war musket would be. busse's seem to me community specific, so no regrets.

get what you will use. think of it as making you happy by using it as well as your wife (kids too maybe). making wife happy with your small sacrifice is brownie points

Nope. I would sell a Weber grill, take the wife and kids to Burger King, and go buy a user Grail knife. Just ask my buddies. They know.
