A little help with a problematic Knifemaker

Ok I didn't mention the maker because I am a big fan of his work (I already have 2 pieces from other sources) and don't want to give him an unjust bad reputation. It's Reese Weiland. I paid a $500 down payment for a chunk of Timascus for the scales and the balance was supposed to be due upon completion. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I've started pulling away from the knife community this year. After this and a debacle with Jake Hoback I'm not sure I'll be buying directly from makers anymore. I'd almost rather pay more and not have to put up with drama. Get back at me guys!

There have been issues with him in the past here. I'd suggest checking out these threads and perhaps contacting the OPs for advice on how best to get his attention:

I do not know if it's really worth giving a name, without concrete evidence is called slander, this is reprehensible. I know I casts doubt but it's like that. I have given € 500 species in hand in hand for a knife that I have never had and I haven no proof, just the word.

Thanks for posting these links, Brancron. The first thread, I find particularly reprehensible. The fact that Reece Weiland, thought it was okay to treat active duty military men, like JWBirch (the very same brave men whom were making deployments over to, Iraq/Afghanistan), in this manner: speaks volumes! Who cares, if he's a talented custom knife ______ (fill in the blank)...this guy must not have much of a conscience!

Unfortunately, it appears that he's learned absolutely nothing, related to his rather rude, unprofessional past. The fact that he never had the decency to chime in on that thread, attests to his poor character. Many people seem to feel that people like RW, are poor businessmen. I say: it's time to stop giving poor businessmen, your business/$$$! :thumbdn:

Not a good sign for the guys waiting on resolution. Ugh

Knowing RW has the OP's money, AND, has closed down his website- is definitely not a good sign, Joe.

RW, seems to have a lot of supporter's...I hope he comes through, & this works out well for you, Salo.
