a little overnight Pic heavy

Awesome pics Riley! The area looks like a great one to spend some down time in and your camp looks great, I like the ties you use on the poncho. With the bacon, beans, peanut butter, camp bread and coffee looks like you had all the important food groups covered too :)

Tycho7, I'm 5/9 185 and it fits me tight with a thermal shirt underneath so it should fit you great.

MW, Thanks man.... It was a great time... The camp bread is now know as "change your mind bread" because at forst taste it is awfull and by the time your done swallowing it it's actually pretty good... LOL

Hey John I really enjoyed your other poncho shelter set-up videos ... lots of good info there, thanks.

Good stuff Riley! Looks really fun. I like the lean-to's, and the body length fire. Nice to have a buddy to go on trips with I'm sure.

The shirt is a U.S. military wool shirt that has been around since WWII or Korea. They are still part of a cold weather TA-50 issue in many assignments. The primary reason that they run small is due to someone machine washing them somewhere during their life. They can be found in military surplus stores, or surplus companies on-line.

Sorry I couldn't join you for the day on Tuesday bro. My daughter looked like she went a few rounds with Mike Tyson, pink eye sucks....

At least you weren't alone. That spot looks beautiful!

Did you have a cold wind blowing off the lake?

Saw the vids yesterday, and was waiting for you to put this up here :)

Looks like a great time, thanks for sharing bud.

THanks Guys...

Tony Sorry you couldn;t be there too... maybe next time... Hope the little ms. is feeling better.

No wind off the lake... temp started dropping at around 5:00 pm around 6:30 I looked up and saw nothing but crisp stars.. and I said man its gonna be a cold one.....ended up dropping to the low 30's f so it wasn't too bad.

How effective was the long fire reflecting heat under your tarps?

That looks like a great night out!

I deally I think the shelters should be a bit closer to the source.. but with plastic tarps and ponchos.. melting can be a risk...I'd say it was about 10 degrees warmer inside my shelter..(at least it was noticeable) unitll about 3:30 am when the fire burnt down to coals....

Thanks for the link, RR. Good ideas - I usually tie off with a Buntline hitch (easy to tie and slippery) but it doesn't help to spread out the strain.

RR,

Great pics and vid.

What do you find is the most effective lashing for the poncho posts?

Hell everything tastes better out of doors and cooked by real flames from a wood fire.
