Here’s a little "EDC-nep" I’m working on. I forged the point to about a 45 degree angle, and then upset it back into itself to get the radical width at the sweet spot.

Nice job Tai,
your forging is always super clean that thing looks like its smooooth :)

Tai,
you seem to forge metal with the sheer force of your imagination!

I'm jealous! (I still have to use hammers :( )

Nice work, Man! Love the profile.

It is cool to get such a wide blade from 3/4" round, not many could do that. :)

Sweet blade Tai!!!
Being able to manipulate an odd ball piece of steel into an amazing thing like that knife must be so satisfying!!! Does that have integral bolsters on it too?

I know I couldn't.....not at this point in my forging. The term " upset " would take on an entirely different meaning than how Tai used it :D ;)

Excellent work Tai   You have a lot of talent and vision

Thanks guys!

Michael, It doesn't show that well it the pic,... but yes it has an integral bolster. It's sort of a flattened octagon.

To upset and widen the sweet spot, I held it by the tang with the spine against the anvil and drove the steel back into itself angling the blow towards the tang, which sort of mushroomed that spot, then pulled it back more (and thinned it out) with a cross peen.

man that is amazing

i love the look of the big belly. i have one i'm working on with a big belly and a nasty concave clip but it's nothing like what you have here

awesome job man. i'm speachless as always

Tai, Could you mention how big the piece of steel was when you started your project? This one is a real beauty! I always enjoy seeing your work but this last one trips my trigger. Its just simple and keeps on flowing.

Thanks guys!

Ray, I didn't measure it, but it was about 6 inches long. It came out to 10-1/2 inches.
