A lurker joins in....and a serious question

Greetings gentlemen

Amen! Somewhere along the way, something went very, very wrong! Suddenly it was OK not to work for a living, OK not to have a religion (here you are considered wierd if you spend sunday morning in church!) and OK to leave the care and teaching of children to a bunch of lefties with no moral standards! It became OK for politicians to show less moral and lower standards than the rest of the population in a country and it was suddenly OK that "stars" from movies, pop and rock were rollmodels for kids instead of their parents.
I dunno....sometimes I really can't see the way out of this, but we need to have hope that the world will indeed turn around!

To my own harm, I have always been a pessimist, but lately I have seen some signs of things getting better: some people here are taking their kids out of the socialist public schools and putting them in private schools. More and more people are getting interested in religion (one way or another) and our socialist government stands to loose big in the next referendum to the "republicans" here! Can't wait to see them get the boot! (Prayers are welcome here!:-)

Blilious:
Very true! I always try to keep a low profile and behave like a gentleman and it has definetely kept me out of the spotlight!

Thanks to you all!

Bummer. That really sucks.

Unfortunately, I think one-handers will eventually start to be made illegal in parts of the U.S.. It may take a couple of decades, but it seems inevitable. On the bright side though, at least the AKTI appears to have staved off defeat in California for the moment.

I don't know about Denmark, but in the U.S, fixed blades are legal to carry in many places. If they remain legal, it would make anti one-hander laws look especially silly, since fixed blades can be opened with no hands!

Whatever happened to freedom and personal responsibility for one's actions?
What happened to the days where you could carry pretty much anything you wanted to, and if you committed a crime with same, you paid the price?
When did we start blaming inanimate objects instead of the person? Has a gun or knife ever robbed or killed someone without a person attached to it?
Cutty, I'm in NJ also where you now have to prove you had no way of escape if you harm someone who has broken into your home. Guys, do you hear what I'm saying? If someone breaks into MY home, I'M supposed to escape. Yeah, that's gonna happen.
Why doesn't Chuck Schumer and his ilk ever acknowledge the fact that back when most every home had at least one gun, there wasn't anywhere near this amount of crime.
I better stop before I bust a gut here.

Hiya!

Just spoke to a colleague yesterday, who said a something I thought a lot about:
<k><f>"You know, in this country we hold the strong down, so the weak can survive"</k></f> meaning that we deliberately hold gifted students back, we use a lot more time helping the criminal than his victim and we sacrifice huge amounts of time and money trying to "straighten up" people who are to d*mn lazy to do anything about their own life and survival!
Not to mention, that people who are working their butt off, get to pay so much tax it's appauling!
Don't try to do better for yourself, the government won't allow it!

Well.....I know who to vore for next time! And I will carry whatever blade i please from now on!:-)
On a positive note, I am plesed to see more people than myself feel this way! There is still hope for this poor planet!

Best regards
The Porc

Yeah, the law is very much alike here too. I mean you damage a BG that breaks into your home and you are in legitime defense if it makes night ONLY! If it's in the morning, run away! Pretty stupid, huh? BUT, if a BG breaks into your home, night or day, and gets chewed really bad by your 140lbs dog (or even better, dogs) while you're trying to call the police (triple

), nothing happens. Unless he can prove that your door was open and you forced him to enter. I love my dog! He's not trained to attack, here in France it is ilegal to train your dog to bite the BG. He is trained to defend (ha ha), and I have trained him outside the French teritory. I know it's a "technicality" but this way it stays legal. He's really cute and playfull with everibody, unless I speak the "magic word" or he is guarding the house. Now, some photos please:

flava, now THAT is a dog!!!!!

Personally, i'd love to move to the U.S, for many reasons.

1. I don't like hot weather. Hence, i need to be north. Maybe Colorado, up in the mountains.

2. Both knife and gun laws here SUCK. BIG time.

However, there are problems....

I've got to wait at least a year so i can legally drink

You guys make it SO hard to get into your country permanently.... I understand the reasons, and agree, but it makes it difficult for me...

I can't afford the plane ticket, i spend too much on knives

See what I mean? You say something that people disagree with and they insinuate you are crazy or a drunk.

James,

Now you see the collateral damage caused by lax immigration policy my friend. It is not hard to get here, you're just going to have to go to Mexico first then sneak in.

I'm serious, this is terrible. We make it incredibly difficult for people to immigrate here and then the Democrats [and some Republicans too in all fairness] sign off on a Bill that grants Amnesty for so many people who have entered illegally.

See, if that was not happening here, Immigration to the United States would be a snap.

Most definitly carry anyway!

I am fed up with political programs which cripple society. Do what you want.

Don,
As one who used to hand out Democratic voter registration cards on the U.S.-Mexican border, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Wow! quite a bit of gravity seems to have slipped into this topic, not that I'm complaining, I'm actually having a grand time reading folks' perceptions, and agree with 99.9% of them. Re: the original "To carry or not to carry" question I myself choose to carry illegally. (I carry an automatic knife which, by letter of the law is illegal for EVERYONE in Alaska) I have never really encountered a problem doing so for several reasons.

The fact that it's technically illegal rarely seems to bother cops. as long as you act like a decent, respectful member of society that law seems to stay kinda buried along with the same kind of laws that ban oral sex between a man and his wife. I really only admit this with reluctance, But I think I've gotten leeway with LEO's due to being an Emergency Medical Technician. I guess EMT's and FireFighters are viewed by some LEOs a bit differently? I really hate to bring up that possibility due to the fact that I think it's an elitist crock of BS. I don't think a Police Officer, FireFighter, EMT, Military personel, etc. should have any more right to carry an auto than anyone else with a reasonably clean record. Another reason I've rarely had a problem is just plain common sense and discretion. a fella runs around like "Rambo part 205" slicing and dicing cardboard boxes with a Dalton Militia Cupid and a maniacal gleam in thier eyes, folks are gonna be prone to arch an eyebrow. (I would) I guess what I'm trying to say is that I can't imagine carrying the wrong style knife being a big deal as long as good judgement and common sense are practiced. Hopefully, I'm right here, I do have a self destructive tendency to give people as a whole way too much credit and trust. awright, done with my mental meandering! y'all take care!
