A New Folder from CRK

I went on a pre-order list to get one.

WHAT!! After all the dislike, the disappointment? All the comments others and myself agree with. Shame....

.....Okay, so maybe I'm in the same boat....I ordered one too.:foot::eek::rolleyes::o.....:D....

Mainly because it is hard to find a high quality knife that is also for a lefty. And after more pondering I have come up with the viewpoint of "I'll give it a shot". If I don't like it, I can sell it at a discount to someone that likes the design and features.

T.K.C.---I was wondering IF you were gonna??!! Good for you. You can't go wrong! Report back! :)

I know!! I know!! ;):D Too funny!!! When I read your comments, I smiled really big and LOL'd!! :D:D What can I say! Yup, I thought I would give it a shhot too. After all, it IS a CRK!

I also preordered one long time ago. Xcel's right, us southpaws don't get many opportunities to get a high quality left hand knife. I think that when I get mine I will be very pleased. I doubt that just because one has "pre ordered", that CRK will attempt to hold one to that. I really appreciate that CRK will make dedicated left hand framelocks. Excel I doubt very much that you will be dissapointed. Once I get mine, you'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands!:thumbup:;):D

I really is sad. I have to give in because the curse of the devil. I was thinking about getting another brand of lefty frame locks which would be, basically, Strider but I just can't bring myself to do it. I want a Hinderer but who the &^%$ knows when Rick will have a lefty in the works. Mayo and Emerson has them but good luck. I'm sure there are others that I don't know about. So CRK is it. I "WANT" to like this new design.

Waffle out.

In your post you spelled it wrong twice. :)

Check out this post for the Chris Reeve page and photos which clearly show "umnumzaan". His knife, his spelling.

First of all, I don't see where I spelled it wrong twice the first one I accidentally switched a few of the m's and n's, but the second spelling is spelled correctly according to the ZULU LANGUAGE! :)

Yeah I flubbed the spelling of it pretty bad, but my point is still clear. The word Umnumzana means "sir" in Zulu:eek:. The word Umnumzaan means "the latest folder from Chris Reeve". I just think it is weird that he would change the spelling. I guess it is because Umnumzana is pronounced "oomnoomzaan" and spelling it the reeve way makes it easier for everybody to pronounce it phonetically (if thats how phonetically is spelled).

My Zulu is extremely rough...at best. Its been more than 12 years since I last took Zulu in school.

Suffixes and prefixes change on certain words depending on how its used in a sentence.

Umnumzana and umnumzaan are pronounced differently and used differently grammatically.

So...not something that CRK just made up:)

Has anyone heard when the production model will begin rolling off the assembly line ? :D

Someone said their factory is moving, which may put off the Umnumzaan release into December.

There's a lot of activity at the CRK shop -- indeed, we are executing an in-town move this summer. It's very exciting for us because of the long-term production possibilities it presents. Unfortunately, it will be tons of work, in both preparing the facility with appropriate water, 3 phase electricity, lighting, altering walls, running air lines, cabling, etc., as well as the move itself.

As for the Umnumzaan production, Chris had formulated several refinements to the design as a result of prototype evaluation and feedback from the early users. We'll roll these refinements into the design, and juggling current production and the move, we hope to be out this Fall.

Any hints on the "refinements"? :)

Looks ok I guess. I like the texturing and the new pivot is sort of cool. Otherwise, a little too "tactical" for my taste and definitely too big. I'll stick with my small Sebenza for now.

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Umnumzaan, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of Umnumzaan in the Fall." :D
