A new knife design by Fehrman Knives!!!!

i noticed that too Esav, but pretty much everyone you talk to that has the Offset says that it works wonders, despite the strange shape. so it is possible that it would work quite well.

considering the uses though for this particular knife, a nice, straight edge would be best prolly.

I have a Fehrman and it rocks so I know he can build an outstanding knife.

Maybe he's figured out some superior new physics in blade design or something.

If it works, this could take some getting used to…

If it is more for cosmetic reasons, no thank you.:thumbdn:

Eric,
You'd better chime in soon so we know if this is for real or just a hoax!

Guys,

I don't post B.S. This is a legit sketch (albeit early and "crude")

Remember, this is a concept. Look at concept cars at car shows and they simply show ideas car companies might take from in developing a production car. For all we know, Eric and company might be using this sketch in the same way. The final production knife will probably vary greatly from this concept.

In my original E-mails with him, I recommended a spearpoint in the lineup and he said he wanted the next knife to be one. As for the other aspects of this blade, they are still up in the air. Post constructive criticism here. What do you want to see in a 5" utility knife that isn't already offered in the Last Chance model?

GKN I thought your deigns were cool.

Thanks man..I have been drawing knives since I was a kid..millions have been doodled on every piece of paper that has been within arms reach:D
Here's what I think might be a winner, I have drawn 3, a large bolo, with an 8 inch blade, a medium 6" blade drop point, and my tour de force....a Fehrman Scandi!!! I know, I love the scandi, but it makes great sense..in the world of high dollar, high performance knives...it has yet to be done in this manner. I would buy the scandi in a heart beat by the way, so "the powers that be" please take notice:D

This is the Last Chance. I'm sure it is finely crafted, but as configured, I wouldn't buy one.

It looks to have a swedge, which is something not terribly useful on a bush knife. The point could stand to be more acute and still be strong.

Moving back, the guard is a little too pronounced and I see it getting hung up on something very easily. It also has something of that sub-hilt fighter style first finger bump that screams hot spot in any grip other than saber.

Other than that, it looks solid enough, the grip looks grippy, and the exposed tang looks capable of some nut smashing.

This Fehrman looks like it could be modified into a top drawer bush knife, but it needs to be less busy about what it is trying to be.

Boats. IMO, you are kinda wrong about the grips, they are very comfortable, and the finger grooves give you great purchase as you choke up on the blade...I thought some of the same before I owned one, I stand by my comment, they are very easy to handle. But, everyone has thier own idea of what is comfortable, as all our hands are different as well.

That bearded guard is my biggest complaint, as I can take or leave guards, but I can't imagine being able to ignore that one the way it hangs into space.

The finger grooves are what they are, I have no direct experience with that style of grip.

 I like the top design, and the bottom one on the second sheet much better. As long as the spine is in "one smooth configuration", I don't mind too much if it's curved a bit. Just my .02 cents. Oh...just make the bottom design have a 5" blade, and we'll be in business.:) I like the scandi, too.

Hey, that is very nice.....I like it, a great melding of Old and New. What about my Scandi????

My disposition toward convex aside, I like it. I'm not sold on the extra ramp on top but overall I think you've got something very practical there.

Cool, glad you like it.. I basically copied your First Strike handle, as that is the Fehrman I own...and shrunk it down a bit. I left in the thumb ramp because I noticed when I flipped the FS over, in a draw position, it gives me added purchase on the knife. either way, I think it would be a fantastic knife, and a real heavy weight in the Bushcraft knife world. I have said it before, unless you have held and used a Fehrman, you just don't know! Your handles are the best in the business IMHO. Gene
