A new knife for a new home?

I did not know that anybody needed to move to justify a new knife. Strange reason that.

Jackknife

If you have the fingers and nails for a stiff pull, and like the size of the 23 pattern, I have a Texas Rose 23 pattern I would be happy to send to you.

It is about a 9 on the pull scale.

Moore Maker Stockman. Your choice of size. Who cares if it's really made in another state...it says Texas on the handle.

I hear that in Texas, in order to be legal, you need a Stetson type hat and the boots. Chaps and spurs are optional, I'm told.

A cowboys baseball cap might be an acceptable alternative to the Stetson, if they ever have a winning season again.

This must be how Obi Wan Kenobi felt when Darth Vader succumbed to the Dark Side. No, wait, Vader was Kenobi's apprentice.

Anyway, I think someone got to Carl.

:D

You need one of those big old four blade stockmans from Queen. You know, with the three regular stockman blades and a punch. You need a Radio Flyer wagon to cart it around in. No pants pocket will hold up to that, maybe a Carhartt pair.

Case's Small Texas Jack in Amber Bone CV is a nice knife. However, with the squared bolsters it's less pocket friendly than the rounded bolster Peanut.

Great point.

I have heard that the Trapper is king in Texas. Maybe a Case mini or a Moore Maker 3 7/8.

I've always had the same impression, that a yellow trapper is THE knife in Tejas.

Personally, I think you ought to stick with your current rotation and spend the extra dough on a great pair of boots and a few Joe Ely and Willie Nelson CDs!

I've been here 4 years now and everything I carried back home in TN and AL work just fine. Ron and others said it right. Welcome to TX, hope you like it!

I still think we Texican "forumites" should get together for an informal BBQ once Carl and his lovely bride arrive! Would be a good thing to finally get to meet some of the folks here. R8shell, Gevo, Peter and a few of the others live not too far distant from each other...at least not in "Texas terms!"

Thanks Ryan, this is one I purchased, sold to a forum Texan, and was VERY fortunate to be able to buy back. Though I only carry it a day or two a week, I am thrilled to have been reunited with this one. Hope you find one!

Peter

On a more serious not, and on topic; I think a case Texas jack would be a great choice:D
