A newb, needs some advise, (or a bunch of really stupid questions about Busse knifes)

mercmaster, thats an awsome blade. I can't say anything more, without belittling it.

Yeah, some members just can't control themselves.

I even heard of one that has to tie it down with a piece of inner-tube for protection.

BTW mercmaster, this is what I posted yesterday in the general forums,

"I'd love to have custom, but I have no idea where to even start my search (all things concidered I want a simple knife, about 4 and a half inches double edged, slightly more then an inch wide, thik, slightly recurved front, maybe a small hand guard, maybe serrated on one side, a very simple handle without complex finger grooves)"

Except for blade lenght your blade pretty much follows what I described (the general shape is exactly what i was talking about, and seration were a definate maybe)

Edit: and I just realized something, buying a Busse, isn't all about buying a knife, its about joing this...whatever this is.
Anyway what ever it is its nice.

Another thought, a Swamp Rat Custom Shop serrated Howling Rat might be just what you are after.

It has a serrated false edge but it's a bit smaller than a BA3 and it has a Resiprene-C handle. It's still covered by the same warranty so you don't have to worry about durability of the handle.

You should be able to find one under $200.

There's a lot of insider speak here, from the acronyms to the jokes with long histories. Do stick around though. Folks here are friendly and will try to help with info.

O.M.G.

He gets it

Hey Volk, if that's EXACTLY what you want, you might begin by contacting the Busse Shop. http://www.bussecombat.com/ordering/index.shtml Zap Garth the pic and let him know exactly what you want and ask if it can be done. You might also ask about price for the mods, time frame, etc. Even if it's a go, it's quite possible that they might not be able to get to the mods for a while, so part of the equation would involve how long you're willing to wait.

If the folks at Busse are agreeable to the mods, next step would be to secure the base knife from the Company Store. www.bussecompanystore.com Rumor has it there's a shipment coming down the pipe pretty soon, and it's probably a safe bet there'll be a Badger or two in there. Usually, Skunk gives some hints as to a post date. When he puts them up at the web site, however, it's a free-for-all as folks get the knives. Since the knives are limited, they can go pretty fast.

O.K. I made this prior to asking.

How will, that effect the quality/warrany

(sorry for any copyrighted materials, i have no idea what the rules for that are, the picture is not for any comercial purposes, just trying to show what I want, and deeply sorry for that abomination, and butchery of a perfectly good knife.)

No problem, folks here do photochops of knives, it's all good. If the shop does that mod, as Guyon suggested, then you would have the warranty. If you had someone else do that to your knife, and there are makers and modders who could safely do it, then you would still have the Busse/INFI quality, but likely you would lose the warranty. Some folks have done more significant mods than that, and assume that the INFI performance alone is sufficient "warranty".

hmmm...well I don't think i'd have the funds for custom work, I mean 350 is stretching it a bit.

As for geting someone else to do it, don't want to loose the warranty.

Man, I wish I found this brand a bit sooner (never did much research before into quolity of knifes, because buying something expencive and having to leave it there after one trip would have been to costly), I wish I knew about this when I needed a fighter, this is perhaps one of two companies so far I've found that trully understands what a combat blade needs. Always asked for serrations at the top, most other knife makers put em in them at the base. Plus the shape and everything, desighn is pure function. Exactly what I needed, pity, now I look at those blades realize I don't need something like that anymore, but I still like em and part of me wants one. The other part says, buy the one you need, the one you are going to use...

...then also buy the one you like, its not like going without food for a month ever killed anybody.

The toothy one in the middle might be close to what you are looking for.

It's not really double edged but that could be changed (it has a false edge on the spine).

It even has a full warranty.

All I'm saying is that Busse, gets things right when it comes to knife desighn, and judging by the feedback here and everywhere else in quality department. For now I'm looking if the bussy store will confirm the rumors.

Yeah that rat is close to what i'm loong for(even though that handle is very ugly, but i can solve that, by striping it if I wanted too.). Its a bit off though in a way that I need the back to come more foward. I need the point to be able to "grab" when its in a reverse grip with blade facing me.

Yes this wouldn't even get you a Game Warden.:thumbdn:
But put these two in there and your are talking Badger:eek:
