So I just got home from a night away in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Drove down into a small public camping area that I have never been to. No real purpose to the night away other than to get the hell away from civilization/work/people etc etc for a night.
Only down side was the weather, but I knew it was going to be wet when I left but what the hell. That said there was a flash of lightening and clap of thunder that must have been right above the tent
Got my attention there
!! I will say the sound of rain falling on the tent is somewhat soothing and I found myself doing NOTHING but laying there watching the light fade and listening
. !!! If only I could make a living out of that
!!!!!
A few pics I managed to snap off
Start of the track (10km) down into the area
Weather was already looking ominous (remember it is almost SUMMER here)
Tent up .
Worlds toughest bread knife
View from the tent around 8pm last night (that is a 30 second exposure)..
Morning after . despite almost constant rain (heavy light heavy light drizzle) there was essentially NO leakage inside .
Gotta love the Marine Tents

Morning Coffee on the go .
Dog Father out marking some territory
About 200yds from my camp is a small lake and waterfall(s) . Snapped this pic of the larger falls
Decided to walk around to the left and onto a little spit of land to get a better pic of the waterfall, it was very overgrown with the actual track being about a foot wide . as I got right to the end of the track and to the little point I wanted to use I discovered I was sharing that square of land with a large and VERY cranky Tiger Snake !!!

It appeared that he didnt want to swim away and was pretty insistent about staying just where he was sadly my camera was still attached to a tripod, with a ND filter on the front and all set for a long exposure (see the last waterfall pic). He would have made a great pic all puffed up and mean alas I decided to make a tactical withdrawal out of his sight and rearrange the camera (as I didnt want to take my eyes off him to do this when I was only a couple of metres away from him (or her). When I walk back in he had moved off into a little more cover and, in deference to his ability to kill
(I had no phone reception down in here for the most part and was not sure I was going to be able to drive out due to the rain at this point) I elected NOT to antagonize him just for a pic
this was the only bit of him left visible when I got back
Another little waterfall .
Kind of them to point it out . The Red Belly Blacks put on quite a show as well but are not in the same ball park as the Tigers I think the Red Belly is about as toxic as a Rattle Snake +/-. Tigers are No 6 on the kill ya list ..

Packing back up .
Redundant sign posting .. as if you got this far down you WERE in a 4x4 as a sedan would be hung up on the washouts about 1km back up the track
Just about back out
