A night in the Blue Mountains...

BTW, it looks like your bread knife is way too small!
Do not take bread photos without MOAD again! ;)

I can't beleive you set your bread on soggy wet grass....ewww. Awesome photos though! I wish we had scenery like that around here...minus the snakes.

You have to do something to soften up those French Sticks Lexi, and that is just in the front alcove of the tent, only DRY place I had to prepare and eat dinner... ;)

The snakes just make it all interesting ..!!

elof_alv... yep.... if I had the FDM I would have just drawn it (from one of the two BB Sheaths I have sitting here) and dived right onto that snake..!! Of course I wore NOTHING but a loin cloth the whole time I was away.... ;)

I was thinking about going for a swim out under the large falls but once I found Mr No Legs there (and having seen a Tiger Snake swim before) I decided that washing could wait till I got home... :) ;)

Ehhh.... what's a little snake bite! Live on the edge and go crazy!! I absolutely love snakes and waterfalls...but to be completely honest, I would definitely not swim with them!

Ehhh.... what's a little snake bite!
..... In this case a painful but relatively quick death... ;) That said I am sure if I stripped off and dove into the water the snake would have been much more scared of me than I was of him... :)

Those are some beautiful pics Andy! You're quite lucky to have such an incredible view so close to you, I for one am jealous. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks guys, nice but I would not have wanted to spend last night out there.... at 5pm it was 40degsC here (104 F) ... down in that spot there would have been little breeze and I think Mr No Legs and I would have been doing the back stoke across the lake together at 1am...!!!! Amazing how a day can change things...!!

Terrific pictures Andy! Thanks for sharing. The waterfall looks so peaceful, the snake.....not so much. :)

The high point of most Australian wildlife is that they do seem more prone to attacking American Tourists than the locals... ;) :D

Great pics Andy ... as always ... I particularly like the reptile ones ... makes me feel a lot better about wet camping "overnighters" over here ... same crappy weather ... but taking a pee during the night would'nt have me looking at sticks to see if they were moving :D

Funny Peter.... many people have been bitted in just the manner you describe... wander out of the tent/hootchie and a little away in the dark and step right on a hunting viper.... enough to wake a bloke up....!!

Yes ... I've been a few places where there have been those sort of worries ... and you're right ... the simple things done without thinking can have a fatal effect ...

Putting your boots on over there in Oz can be a bit dodgy if you have'nt shook them out first ...

The snakes and the spiders are all on average "the most venemous" of the lot ... so you don't get many "second chances" either ...

But it is a beautiful country ... well worth a visit one day ...

The overnight trip out bush every once-in-awhile is a must!

Beautiful pics mate, thanks for sharing:thumbup:

Funny Pete... I am more at risk (literally) putting a boot/shoe on here at home than I am most places out bush... ;) We are frequented here at the house by a couple of charming little guys known as the "Funnel Web" and "White Tip" spiders... morning routine out on the verandah as I am putting on my boots is to beat them and shake a little....just to be sure... ;)

Notice the DPM hanging on the back of my truck... it works a treat out in that country, too dark for most places here though.

Andy
