A night in the Blue Mountains...

The other little companion I had to complement the DF... :)

I think you need to be born into those sort of habits to feel relaxed and truly be safe ... I would end up with the "trots" from the water and forget to "kick the dunny" and end up with the worlds most posionous spider hanging off my arse :D

Aside from that though ... brilliant place to use the knives and enjoy the "Bush" ... :)

Those DPM waterproofs are good too  Had mine a lot of years now and no leaks ....

Thanks for posting those pictures Andy! The last one reminds me of the roads my wife and I traveled on with our baby blue FC 40 years ago.

Peter..... I forgot to mention (as I really don't worry about them too much) I can go find a nest of Red Back spiders (Black Widows in the US I think) any old time...they live under the rim of our rubbish bin, just have to remember not to grab it just there when I put it out..!!

Matilda.... was that out here you were traveling >???

We spent about 4 months traveling the backroads of Australia. Sure learned a lot about getting stuck in mud and sand!

It will do that to you.... do you recall where you visited ?? I have traveled lots out here and am always interested to know if I have driven the same tracks and walked the same paths as my foreign friends.. :)

IMHO Australia is the most beautiful country in the world add a BUSSE and what more can you ask for?

We lived in Chatswood for about 14 months. Our favorite camping area was around Newnes. The glow worn tunnel was one of the many highlites of our trip there!

Wow... I am at Dural and know Chatswood pretty well, Aunt and Uncle at Pymble. I also know Newnes well, it was my alternate spot for this night away but I was running late getting away so went a bit closer to home. This is near Wentworth Falls (just east of Katoomba).

Andy, your photography is fantastic. I love that tent too. Can you get 2 swags in there or is it just for sleeping bags? What brand/model is it?

You might be right there Peter. Places like Africa would scare the bejesus out of me, with their lions and worms that burrow into your feet. But I can't say I've ever been truly worried about the Australian wildlife (even if it does have the majority of the deadliest creatures living here). Might also have something to do with the blood alcohol content of the locals, where nothing seems to matter too much.

Chris.

Mate, that would be too small for two swags, it would work for two mats and bags though (you need to be good friends or really drunk). It is a Eureka USMC tent (same design is also made by Diamond). Overbuilt for a little tent but I like that.

Snakes and and alcohol... :D have you heard about the idiot out at Wiseman's Ferry who mistook a Death Adder for a Blue Tongue Lizard ? He could not understand why it was biting him while he was "rescuing" it... and then got bitten twice more while trying to prove to a friend it was a lizard...yes.... he WAS drinking... and survived ...clearly the gene pool was the looser in that result...!!

Nice Andy. Love the Blue mountains....its been years since we went there. Thanks for the revisit!

Lawrie.
