a non-threatening EDC?

I'm looking to purchase a second EDC knife that isn't scary looking. I have my kershaw blur, but sometimes I wish I had something a little less threatening to pull out, for those times when I'm just going to cut something small. I looked at the spyderco salsa today, thinking that was a rather cute looking knife, but it pinched my hand everytime I opened it. How about the BM skirmish? :D Ok, any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

i have a nice Spyderco SS cricket with a carbon inlay on one side. It looks inocent but the blade is very usefull and "scary" sharp, i even carry it on my keychain. Never had any comment about it. people just seem to be relieved that u can help them cutting strings and stuff. If u want to go really "sheeple" i would suggest a lime or pink Spyderco jester, small knife but very sharp and a great utility kife. :)

You are seeking something that does not exhist. In some peoples eyes, anything with a blade is threatening.
Even then, Id go with a CRKT PECK (with the titanium nitrite coating), a Kershaw Scallion (also with the color), SOG Twitch (yep, colorful) I guess the point is make you knife as small and non threatning as possible, nothing black coated or bigger than 3 inches (you can find something with a pink coating, go for it.) :D
Oh, and even then, be careful about the company you decide to pull it out around. Its not so bad, you can always have a sword in you jacket too.

The EDC that I carry most is a Spyderco Native. Very sheeple friendly with a blade just under 3" but cuts like a bigger knife and you can find one for around $50 with the S30V blade. :)

I would guess that the Native's width would scare most sheeple.

Knives w/2.5" wharncliffe blades have become my preferred office/work hours EDC. The length and shape of the blade tends to cause little to no attention to be drawn to me if I've got it out opening a letter, cutting down a box or doing whatever one does with a knife in an office/work environment. You'll find numerous options available, both production and custom, if you are interested in this blade style.

For some reason, knives with bone and wood in the handle, or weird colors like orange or yellow or pink purple cut down on the "weapon" stigmata. Get a Kershaw Rainbow Leek, Benchmade Griptillian in a funky color, or a bone/wood handled slipjoint (or Spyderco Kiwi).

Or, just say "screw those ignorant sheeple" and carry what you want. If it's legal, they've got no room to bitch, and their ignorant opinion shoudln't matter to you.

You know, this constant and consistantly recurring 'sheeple are scared of my puny/any knife' theme is like reading or viewing porn. The same thing over and over and over. First from this side then from that side. Over and over and over....I am beginning to think I've seen all there is in this forum. Been there done that again and again.....eeeho!
Yes. We have identified that 90% of our non-viewing audience is blatently ignorant.
Next time you get the 'Who are you gonna kill with that?' tell them 'I SAVE lives. I am a surgeon. Wanna DEMO?'.
Now I'll go have my morning coffee.... :grumpy: but :D

I generally carry a Queen stockman or a SAK in my left pocket. That way if any of the weanies are around I don't have to pull out my scary looking BM 705 from my right pocket. Never had any complaints, yet. Good luck.

The red handled Swiss Army Knife (SAK) is probably the most recognized pocket knife, and therefore non-threatening.

Almost any knife knut should have at least one SAK -
that's one
dozen :p

(funny, but I just posted this suggestion :) )
for starters try the Victorinox Compact (US model #54941) ~low priced at under $20 -

I was thinking the same thing today, after reading the responses to my When you dont carry thread, I thought having a small non-threating blade would be a much better option to bring to certain places. POssibly one of the small spydercos like the meercat.

Classic stockman, whittler or congress knife. I get postive comments about mine. They generally remind people of their grandfather. It is cool to have multiple blades on a knife too, to cover different tasks. One for food, one really sharp, one for cardboard, whatever you need.

I carry my Spyderco Kiwi at work (office environment). Nobody is ever intimidated when I slide it out of its little suede pouch and open it up. It seems to be the combination of carrying in a pouch, and short oddly shaped blade that make it non-inimidating to most people.

Kershaw has a neet little slipjpoint linerlock thumstud knife called the Double cross... looks like a slipjoint, not super large and really a sharp knife.. Check it out, I got one for the same reasons and like it a lot
Good knife hunting

Don't take this as me blasting anyone or general opionion, but why does anybody care what the "sheeple" think? I understand not whipping out a fixed blade or a CS Vaquero Grande at the office or the corner store. If your knife is a normal size and legal (ish) what does it matter? People acting hinky and genrally fruity about having a knife draws more attention than the item itself. Just my 2 cents.

A red-handled Swiss Army Knife may bother some people, but it is always defensible. They have longer models with locking 3.25-inch blades. I like the Adventurer model since it has all the tools I use most. It is only two spring-channels thick and light for its size. There is a similar model that has a cork screw instead of the philips head. You can even get a serrated version of the Adventurer with a Boy Scouts logo on it. Here is the type that I use:
