A number of questions about edge polishing and strops.

Sounds like you got the basics now its just time for practice.

Just hope I am not making any big basic mistake (and if I'm not, I owe it mostly to BF), then of course only practice will improve my technique. I know it will be a long process but I enjoy delicate manual procedures and I know it will be extremely rewarding when I will be able to get my edges really sharp and polished and be able to cut the moon down when the night is too bright (as Goemon Ishikawa XIII) :D
Thank u again

One thing I'll point out on my set-up pic, those lines cut into my base are at approx 11, 15, and 18 degrees. I just sight down the blade and see about where I'm falling - I don't get too specific, and only use those marks when I'm changing a factory bevel. Spend plenty of time at the low end and as knifenut said, try something in the 220 grit range for setting your bevel. Once you get the bevel established a lot of it will come down to feel and observation (again back to knifenut - at least 8x magnification is a real help). Using the more coarse grit media with a Sharpie will really show you what you're doing and where.

I hadn't really thought going down the grit scale to 220, but I trust ur opinions so I will start from 220 from now on. I was actually a bit worried of spending too much time at the low end of the grit scale, since I didn't know if I was being delicate enough and didn't want to remove too much metal from the blade.
I have bought an 8X magnifying lens that already showed me a few mistakes I was making (like the difference between the 2 sides of the edge).
I'm glad to realize that (at least in theory) I seem to be on a good road...the rest can only come with practice but I'm positive.
