They are actually easier to grind after Ht, at least, that's what I found. Less sparks, and less gummy.

100%. After heat-treatment they become much more hard and slick, and grind more like steel. The insane, tough gummy grabbyness is heavily muted, and you can grind it more cleanly.

A side note: Someone who has a chopper like these got it hardness tested by a pro, and says it came up HRc 52 on both tests! It looks like my original goal of HRc 53 for swords may have been reached.
 
My kukri is similar to military. 12"blade , 1/4" thick at spine, 24 ozs.The kukri trick is that the edge is perpendicular to the direction to the blow with normal hand position. It works very well. Once I was chopping brush along the road and the cop stopped ''what are you doing.?" " Cutting brush , this is a kukri, a brush knife ." and I continued cutting so he drove on !! LOL, LOL !
