Love these two, looks so peaceful .
Thanks rksoon.
It definitely is peaceful. The first picture was taken from the shore of my favourite campsite on the lake (#17, in case anyone else gets the chance to go there!). The fishing is great, and it's pleasantly surprising to see natural sand beaches along the shore of a lake in the middle of the mountains.
The shore (not shown) where the second picture was taken is also sandy, but the sand is loaded with pyrite deposits that flow from the mineral-rich springs on the adjacent mountains. When you walk through the water, your passing stirs up gold silt, which is just cool. The area is popular with shorebirds, eagles, moose, and grizzly, and the beach is covered in tracks (which glitter because of the pyrite). Definitely a one-of-a-kind location.
This thread really is great. I hope to be able to see some of these locations in person in the future.
All the best,
- Mike
