A Picture Of Me

I really appologise Mike for going off topic but I had to say something. I do agree that cancelling "foreign aid" to a certain bunch of countries would be a good idea as in all honesty, the money spent on these countries just feeds corruption, greed, and even more political and social instability. I hate to say it but pourring money into certain parts of Africa is futile at best and ceasing all cash flow to these countries would force them to clean up their own country. In my opinion, Canada too should stop throwing money away at countries that do not even show any real attempts to fix their problems. Why should we (insert country here) help other countries that are not willing to help themselves?

However, the main problem with this scenerio is that the American economy (being one of the most develloped countries in the world), is geared towards the service sector. The United States would need to revamp their entire infrastructure in order to do this. No county on the face of the Earth could survive without foreign trade. Each country, no matter how wealthy or rich in natural resources, will need to trade at some point in order to survive.

I do agree with you in some respects but this is unfeasable and in some ways impractical. If you think about (knife content), the only thing that is made in the United States are quality goods. Now I don't buy knives made in China anymore (I admit I did at one point), not because I don't like the Chinese, but because I would rather pay more for a quality knife I could rely on if my ass was on the line. The United States (as well as any other develloped country) buys goods from China (any other place where it is cheap to manufacture goods) beacuse they are innexpensive. The United States would not be able to survive if they had to manufacture all of their goods locally, it would just be too expensive.

I have read this speech before on a number of sites and have seen three variations of it. It is very well written and serves as a reminder to us the problems associated with globalization. I have seen variants of this speech with the United States replaced by other develloped countries. The main point I agree with is that foreign aid to a certain bunch of countries is a waste of time and money. Read Sudan and other parts of Africa.

I appologise Mike, I know this does not belong on the Busse Combat forum but since it was brought up I felt adding my perspective justified.

If this gets sent somewhere else, can I please have my posts removed :D

I would give it five minutes before Mike makes his nightly rounds and either locks or moves this thread to the political forum.

I can't comment, but I have to ask....When was this brought up earlier in the thread? :) You posted a picture of yourself which is always cool to see someone, I missed when it transitioned into world politics :D

Post 13? What the...That's mine!! :) I didn't make any references to world politics. It was a comment to skunk about locking down the border...you know, seeing you in military stuff and all. It was in reference to all of the media down here lately about border patrols...Nothing about world politics, lol :)

Yes, your post had nothing to due with world politics. But, you asked where the transition point was and that would be the post where we transitioned away from the title of the post.

Ok, you're absolutely right...that was my question.

It was my fault as well. I should have just burried the hatchet.

I guess the moral of the story is:

NEVER USE THE SEARCH ENGINE

Sort of ironic, if you think about it. The time I use the search engine, the problems start happening.

Duh! He is on his way.

The answer to life's problems is not alcohol, even though it is a good way of dealing with them. ;)
