A plastic Spyder.....

I have several "plastic" knives including the orange Blackie Collins folder. I bought it because it was really cute and cheap and ORANGE. :)

Got the old plastic Sting 1A copy (Executive Letter Opener) and the Lansky version and a few others. Curiosity mainly.

I have a CS Tanto which I sanded down & rounded off to non pointy dullness for a training blade.

I also have more than a few "Executive Ice Scrapers" which do a decent job scraping ice off a car window, which is what I've used them for. In a car (year round) or in a winter coat pocket, they are probably "explainable" in many places. Illegal in others, as is everything.

One thought as to a Spyderco "plastic knife" would be copies of unfolded folders for MBC type training. Dull edges and rounded points. However, there are copies of these available from various makers (or homemade) that fill the bill for those interested.

One last thought which I'm sure is still impractical would be a plastic and rubber hybrid type of blade in an Endura or Delica handle which operates just like the metal trainers. There are two basic types of training blades: flexible and inflexible.

Inflexible trainers are for demos and light contact training.

Flexibles are for moderate to heavy contact training and are often capable of being coated with chalk, crayon, lipstick, etc. for marking purposes.

It would be real cool to have a folding trainer for "in fight weapon access" grappling/clinch training where one wouldn't have to worry so much about "dinging" one's training partner with a metal training blade after accessing and opening it during a training tussle.

However, as noted, it would be extremely special purpose and I don't think it would sell too well.

Oh my, yet one more idea... :)

I've seen SAKs which were all plastic. Think "a child's first knife."

An all plastic "play Spydie" might be a cool idea. Boxed with "knife safety rules" and so on. Start 'em early, I say! :D
