I was contacted recently by someone looking to trade for some valuable knives, I made them an offer which was definitely in my favor, I was surprised they accepted the offer so readily. When I explained how I like to do trades, having their goods shipped first if I'm unfamiliar with them or they dont have solid feedback OR having both ship to a mutually agreed upon 3rd party they backed out.

Now it could be completely innocent, but I just had a bad feeling about it. If my hunch is right I'd hate to see someone else get suckered, but I really have no grounds to make an accusation, while this was suspicious nothing wrong actually transpired.

What would you do in my position?

The fact that you've only been here a month or two and only have 1 feedback yourself may have scared them off.

I wasnt contacted through bladeforums, and I'm not even sure if the fellow has an account here. I can see a number of reasons to back out of the trade, but what piqued my suspicion was that the problem was with how the exchange would happen. I mean, if any other explanation was given I wouldnt have even thought twice about it.

Anyway, like I said, I could be completely wrong.

If you want, email me his info and I'll see if he's been mentioned before.

Same thing happened to me too, it was the scammer from saudi arabia. He had never posted at all on BF, just sent emails. I guess it was to prevent one of the mods from seeing his IP adress.
